You can turn that around as well:

I'm not sure that people in Europe will order an Astak and pay shipping cost (40 dollar) from the US and custom's fee (50 euro, in the Netherlands). After all these expenses the cost of the Astak will be too high.

Or brave the Italian vampirish postal system, where the Astak could just disappear

I agree. Guys, get back to the topic please. If you cannot do it, we must close this thread and you must start a new one without the bickering.

Alexander, since you're entering the thread: it was my opinion that most members of MR are from Europe (just my impression, maybe I'm totally wrong).
So I do consider this poll somewhat incomplete/out of topic/of marginal interest since it misses a lot of devices which are available (or will be this quarter) for European customers. There is a lot more diversity over here than in the States. This may explain some of the criticism (mine included).

Do you have any numbers (this is OT, I know) how many members of MR acutally are from certain regions of the world? This may also be interesting for upcoming polls.

While it's certainly OT , here a few numbers from the past six months: ~55% US, ~8% UK, ~5% CA, ~5% DE, anything else below 3%.

56.52% (39 votes) predict that Sony will produce next 5" reader and only 26.09% (18 votes) for ASTAK. As I remember I predicted that Sony will product 5" eBook reader several months ago but nobody believed...
Question: why Sony decided produce 5" ereader instead of 9.7-inches eBook reader like Amazon did?

Any chance that Amazon will produce 5" eBook reader soon?

One reason Sony might be testing the 5" reader market is they also have extensive experience in building excellent PDA's...I am actually hoping many of the Sony PDA features are migrated to enhance one handed operation.

Amazon is really well out of their depth in building devices...so they are learning under fire. Not doing an awful job but Sony really does have an advantage on the hardware side. They might be the first company to get the 5" device right. Hanlin got the thumb wheel wrong by putting it on the right side of the reader is an example...Sony put it on the left side of their Clie nx series of PDA's...the nx73v/nx80v and there were a few others but for me those to are the ideal concept for a small format reader. Including the clam-shell case.

But lots of folks hate the DX so I guess that is why they make different sizes...
The main reason I think a lot of people dislike the DX is that Amazon is using it to promote reading of PDF and PDF on the DX is not good.

Who says they don't have a 9" ebook reader on the line? Just because there hasn't been a leak, doesn't mean it's not there.

They announced 5" and 6" ereaders only so I don't think that they have plans to produce 9" eBook in near future

I voted for Astak.

So far, I find Robertb's sales pitches to be persuasive.

I would like to hear Sony's side of the story, and I wish that they had a rep here to put Sony's best foot forward.
