What about the BeBook Mini which is not yet out? It should be added to the list. It's another reader with a 5" screen. Yes it's the same hardware as the Astak, but it's being sold separately.

Kindle is available in US because it will be sent from US to US customers (no custom's fees and no expenses for shipping from overseas). I think it must be clear that nobody offer free shipping overseas and customers responsible for all custom's fee. So OPUS cannot be considered as a product available on US market. We are talking about 5" Sony and 5" ASTAK in this Poll.

I have to disagree. if it can be bought online and sent to the US with a valid warranty, then it is available in the US. SO yes, the Opus can be concidered a product available in the US. What makes it available in the US is that the warranty is valid.

Just because it's sold outside of the US does not make it unavailable in the US. The fact that Bookeen ships to the US makes it available in the US. The Kindle is sold via shipping only and thus given your criteria, it's not available in the US as well.

JSWolf, give it up. This thread seemingly is another shameless attempt to promote Astak's products. Nothing more.

Sounds more like a shameless attempt to sell the Opus.

If you order Kindle it will be shipped from US (free shipping and no custom's fee). According your criteria jetBook is available in Japan (just order jetBook by Internet and it will be shipped to Japan).

I'm not sure that people in US will order Opus and pay shipping cost from Europe and custom's fees. After all these expenses the the cost of Opus will be too high...

Maybe it is just my ailing eyesight where I like a larger font and more words per page but I just don't understand the attraction of a 5" reader. After having gotten used to my Kindle DX, a 6-inch reader seems too small.

But lots of folks hate the DX so I guess that is why they make different sizes...

The problem is that you cannot keep Kindle DX in your pocket...

jeebus key-ryst....after reading this thread, you people would debate a freaking sunrise...this is an either or poll...if your pet device/company is not in the poll, start your own poll.

I swear this place is like herding cats anymore. The constant bickering over the tiniest thing is just beyond the pale.

So join the rest of the world. The US is not the world. Come to Australia and pay shipping for anything from anywhere.
