I forgot polymer clay! I have some silver clay, too, but as I don't have a kiln I'm limited to what I can fire on the hob!

Glass rods - the yeti has a small stash. We've only got a small torch that runs off cans of butane or propane, though, so we've not made much in the way of glass beads.

If (when) I do get a kiln, sheet glass will end up in my stash as I have lots of ideas for fused glass beads!

Soldering's fun Fear of the torch will go with use - just remember to keep it pointing away from you and away from anything flammable

Oh gosh .... if we put all the occupations (things I got paid for) I have had in a more or less chronological row (and keeping in mind that some of these were done at the same time .... not unusual for me to have more than one job in my youth), we would have:

Stable Hand (New Mexico);
Babysitter;
Assistant to Archeologist (Akrotiri);
Guide in Art Gallery (Prado);
Reindeer Herder (Finland);
Physician's Assistant (Los Angeles);
Ice Cream Scooper (31 Flavors);
Accessions Clerk - Clinical Labs (UCLA Med Ctr);
Primary Clerk - Hematology Dept;
Assistant to Head of Pathology;
Medical Technologist - Blood Bank;
Medical Technologist - All departments (small lab -- so Parasitology, Bacteriology, Hematology, Serology, Coagulation Studies, Clinical Chemistry, Blood Bank) (Verdugo);
Pathologist (several places);
Search and Rescue (Mammoth Lakes);
Legal Assistant (Sierra Madre);
Department Head Reagent Production American Red Cross (Los Angeles);
Attorney (Los Angeles, San Diego).

The hobbies (things I get paid for sometimes) and volunteer jobs - in no particular order:

Usher - Old Globe Theater;
Deck Hand - Star of India (Brig);
Computer Repair;
Cat and Dog Rescue;
Reading to the Blind;
Needlepoint;
Quilting;
Carpentry;
Computer graphics and animation;
Photography;
Flying;
Skiiing;
Gym Rat;
Small Appliance Repair;
Film;
Reading.

I recently read a description of Leonard of Quirm that fit me to a "t" ... something about being so interested in everything that it was difficult to keep a focus. It's a gift and a curse.

Don't think I have any Irish relatives

And EXACTLY! Nothing worse than getting the inspiration to do something and not being able to because you don't have the stuff needed

Far worse for me is getting the inspiration to do something and not having the talent to be able to do it!

For example; I keep looking at the big shed in my garden and thinking that I should get rid of it and put in a nice decking area instead. Only problem is that I am the world's worse DIYer and just wouldn't know where to start

1 - Get rid of the shed.
2 - build a deck

Simple really. Doing it in the other order would be needlessly complex.

Also a good idea, although I am almost certain these guys will expect some kind of pecuniary reward for such an arrangement.

Well, you could then hire the ones that list me as a reference, then you wouldn't have to pay them because they'd do such a crappy job...

OK - demolish shed carefully BUT leave floor intact
Prop sides and roof on bricks next to the old shed floor, and at the same height.
Hey presto - one deck, no shed
