We have a meeting with Pixel Qi at their headquarters in San Bruno on Wednesday, June 10. This will give us a chance to see the technology up close and specifically talk about screens for eBook Readers. I will let you know what we found out that could be of benefit.

Did you get them?????
You were going to take a picture or two comparing them to the EZReader...

Dear AJ:

Thank you. They did not arrive Friday but were in San Francisco customs. Hopefully they released them this morning and they will arrive today. I will go check the tracking number right now.

Yes, I am anxious to take the pictures and post! Sorry for the delay but we have no control over customs agents, of course.

Customs did release the two samples of the Pockert PRO and they are due to arrive today before 2:00 p.m. PDT.

Once they arrive every person in the office will swarm all over them assessing them, playing with them, page turning, and downloading. Tests will begin in earnest late Tuesday. I will likely be able to take the photographs tomorrow and post immediately.

Look to my blog (www.robertbEZ.blogspot.com) for my first impressions. I am honest in these appraisals and you CAN count on honest info. IF it is lousy in some area I will post that. But... this looks like it should all be pretty nice.

Dear All:

Being completely objective, the first two samples are telling us a lot of useful info about the Pocket PRO but we are seeing some glitches where it freezes up and we have to reset.

This is WHY it sometimes seems disappointing when timelines go wrong. We now have to log all the info on the glitches and then have Jinke do a firmware upgrade. Everyone hopes that even the initial samples will be just great... but they rarely are.

We are overjoyed with the fit, appearance and menu of the Pocket PRO... but when we release it has to be rock solid and it is not yet. We will be talking on the phone tonight (China's start of day) to get fixes started.

A few say that I am only a salesperson hawking devices. I thought it would be good to tell the good with the bad. I try to be objective in this column and I want you to know when something is not exactly right and we need to rework. We need to get a firmware upgrade so the device is recognized by the computer so we can load in books and music for a thorough test.

Can we see a picture of a pocket pro displaying a text page? I am interested in how close the text goes to the top/bottom and left/right of the page. If there is a 'fullscreen' mode that eliminates any headers and footers that would be ideal.

My interest is because I believe that a 5 inch that allows you to use the full screen will have more reading area than my 6 inch that has left/right margins and a header and footer.

All I have are from my reject photographs yesterday when I was trying to show the Pocket PRO displaying in 2X font size HORIZONTALLY. Maybe some of these will give you what you need.

I will have a better photographer take text pictures today if there is time. Remember, these are rejected photos and not optimized.
