I'm seeing "Wireless V5.1 Earbuds" which features "Bluetooth® 5.4", specified as being compatible with the Kobo Forma; dumb question (I won't need wireless earbuds): migh it be, by chance, that that "Duroobi Moodi" buttons device would connect onto the Forma (which has "just wireless")?

Well, I really hope Kobo will ignore the upcoming Kaleido 4 displays for a while and do some upgrades in the extinct 7-8+ inch BW device categories first...
