As the kobov5 version (tolino shine5 / fw 5.x+) is not mentioned anywhere here:

https://github.com/user-attachments/...1-gca31869.zip (from https://github.com/NiLuJe/kfmon/issues/25) - unzip to SD root. After removing the USB device, it should autoinstall an update and reboot.

Then, download a kobo v5 release from github https://github.com/koreader/koreader/releases and unzip to the sd root (so it ends up in .adds).

Hello,

This is my first try at installing KOReader + Plato on my Kobo Clara BW, and I'm stuck at running the PowerShell script per the instructions in post #2.

On my Windows11 computer, there's no "Unblock" option anywhere. When I right-click and run the script, there's a flicker too fast to read, and nothing happens.

What should I do?

--
Edit: Seems to have worked.

1. Download the ZIP file and the script
2. Reboot the Kobo reader (10s long press)
3. Plug it in, enable the connection, and then let it rest
4. Open a DOS box, and use PowerShell to run the script
5. Eject
6. Unplug: It will update and reboot
7. Click on the NickelMenu to find the two apps.

After playing with both apps to solve my problem*, I'll have to do more reading to see if they're what I need.

* easy way to take notes and export them to the computer, without losing them even after removing a book from the reader; Reading the SQLite file through Python wasn't reliable

--
Edit: After using the PowerShell script above to install KOReader and Plato, I googled to see if the stock firmware could take screnshots without anything extra.

It said I should edit \.kobo\Kobo\Kobo eReader.conf… which was full of weird characters.

Google then said I should just delete the file and reboot.

I copied it to the computer, deleted, and rebooted.

After reboot, I was required to choose a language (!) and the "My books" displayed PNG and SVG files in addition to EPUB files (!!) :-/ I assume it's the script that did it, and now shows hidden directories, ie. those with a "." in their name.

How can I go back to a working device?

Is this the safe way to remove KOReader, Plato, and KFMon, and return to a stock Kobo? When copy/pasting from Gemini, it removes all carriage returns, and I didn't have the courage to fix the output, hence the screenshot

--
Edit: This worked. After also removing NM, note files, ie. *.TXT files in \.kobo were displayed in "My books". I had to move them to \.MyExportedNotes so they would be ignored by the browser.
