Calibre sync information

I really like the Calibre integration to Justread. And as I said some days before I have a big library with several thousand books. When Syncing this library I noticed that sync stops after 510 books. After this you have to close the App and start it again. Then you can sync again 510 books. Is there a reason why? Or Is the problem possibly the connection to iCloud?
I ask just for my personal interest. I already finished syncing and am very, very happy with the result!

Hello docuro, there is not 'hard stop' on the number of books, but to be it exactly 510... that indicates something like this.

Just to be sure... what you mean by this 'syncing library'... you mean you have that Calibre Books sheet opened and there you pressed sync?

Yes. Exactly like this.

To be correct: the sync counts on but after 510 files it doesn’t sync anymore.

Thank you, will look at it tomorrow, today I am just reading :-).

EDIT: A quick question that came to my mind: does the app 'go to background' at your device at those 510 books?

No. After I noticed that I always had the App in the foreground to check if syncing still works

Hi Docuro, I made this Calibre sync different, hopefully better.
In new version (this week) it will firstly compare and download selected books (when you are on that calibre books sheet), and this is make in parallel (number of cores / 2), so it will surely be faster than it is now, the modern the hardware the better.
And the it will automatically (or manually when you cancel and close sheet) process the files.

To make it simpler:
before (now): sync book A, process book A, sync book B, process book B, ...
after (2.2): sync all books, process all books

Also made a test of 3 568 files using Calibre Sync.
Fresh sync and processing took about 6:30 on iphone 13 pro, and the library size is around 3.2GB.
The speed depends on the size of the library, network speed and the speed of the device itself.

I'll try syncing afresh when the new version is out. I too had to re-start syncing several times to get all of my library downloaded. I just forgot to report it - sorry.

Hi and thank you for the feedback.
The new version 2.2 is around the corner, there are only two things to make now:
- multiple read with editable dates to read
- some statistics polishing.

Surely it will be out this week, but I have to deal with an unexpected funeral, so it will be two days later than I initially planned.

What is already made for 2.2:
- correct footnote popover
- updated shareable sheet (there were few bugs about calculations)
- updated one-touch-bookmark position
- in fonts sheet you can select if you want to show all fonts or just font family
- context menu while reading is optionable (you can select what to show and in what order)
- calibre sync is remade
- batch selection is remade (you can batch select to mark books as (un)read and add to collection)

And this is what I have planned for 2.3, before PDF support will land:
- two way calibre sync (with mapping)
- list/grid in homeview
- grid view for iphone (like the same that is on ipad)
- apple pencil support for ipad
- reading calendar/journal (like you have in Margins)
