The texts are largely taken from Gutenberg, but I have proofed most of them against first or early book editions and corrected thousands of mistakes and variants. The rest will follow. The texts are presented unchanged, i.e. with their original errors. Emendations are hidden in the code and appear if you delete “display: none ;” for the <ins> element in the stylesheet.

Some of the texts in the books were selections of series previously published in magazines. I have added the missing texts of these series from scans of the magazines.

Most of the texts originally came with illustrations, often by Thackeray himself, but they were too numerous to include in this edition (I have counted 1342), so they are being released individually. The asterisks after the titles in the list above take you to the respective epubs. Vanity Fair will be next and the rest will follow.

There are the usual inline tables of contents and links after each text/chapter to get back to the respective tables.
