Question Single-frame blink in Viewer when changing pages
There is 1-empty frame on each page flip (pg-up/down). This can be seen using either 8.X or 9.X version on Wayland / Sway WM with Intel iGPU.

Code:
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL vendor string: Intel
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa Intel Iris Xe Graphics
Attaching the video recording; might be platform-related after all.

This sounds like a minor issue, but in fact very annoying when you try to read a book.

Does anyone else experience the same? Is there a known fix?..

Switch to X11? Update to a newer Linux distribution? Update Chromium/Ozone?

Qt's webengine can use Ozone as an interface layer. I've only used it on a Tumbleweed VM so not sure about the details of the install. From what I remember, ozone was installed as part of the chromium install but that was a while back.

Turn on/off graphics acceleration under Preferences->Tweaks (calibre 9 only)
