duplicates in calibre

Why, when I add books to Calibre, do I get a list like this with the warning "Books with the same title as those shown below already exist..."? I've highlighted in yellow the ones that match the title but not the author, which, in my opinion, shouldn't appear.
Is there a way to have these books automatically added to my library and not appear in this list? I work with a very large library, over 100,000 books, and doing it manually is a nightmare.

Add books only looks at the book title. You could simply add all the books and then use the Find Duplicates plugin to locate real duplicates after you have added them.

The books I mentioned were added from my hard drive.
For now, I've resolved the issue by moving them to a new, empty library in Calibre, and from there to my Calibre library. Now it's correctly matching the title and author.

Where you add the books from shouldn't matter.

Sounds as if you are moving to the equivalent of my Intake library. Books get imported there, metadata cleaned up, editing done if needed and then moved to the main library.

Automated adding doesn't check for duplicates if Add Books→Control the adding of books→Automatic adding→Check for duplicates when automatically adding files is not checked.

I don't use that feature so I'm making an assumption based on the tooltips.
