Hello, I just wanted to give a heads up on the install script for macOS.
Don't know if it has anything to do with terminal being zsh ? I had to cd into the folder containing the OCP-Plato-0.9.44_KOReader-v2025.10 and install.command and run the install command from there. It didn't give me any choices what to install but that didn't matter because I wanted it all. I tried the normal instruction way (the downloading and extracting and running the command from the submenu open) but that would result in a "no installable packages here" message. It all worked but differently from instructions. Still greatly appreciated the work that you people do out of love for the product. |

I believe that's exactly how it's described under the "macOS" header.

Hi, Very new to the scene, just trying to get KoReader on my Aura H20 Edition 2.
I am experiencing an issue that I think is not uncommon, where attempting to launch KoReader causes the device to freeze requiring a restart. This issue is regardless of using the one-click install, or manually installing KFMon and KoReader (latest nightly vers, as I had seen chatter about this issue being resolved in nightly version) as per the Wiki instructions. Any advice or direction appreciated. Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2 FW: 4.35.x attempted with one-click KoReader 2025.10 and KFMon1.4.6 and koreader-kobo-v2025.10-101-g34f9f3c5e_2026-01-29 Manual install |

What do you mean by not uncommon? Could you link to the relevant issue on GitHub?

If you share the crash.log (see the issue template on GitHub for more info if necessary) we can tell if it's also a new device identifier.
Note, the relevant line from that crash.log is "unrecognized Kobo model XXX" Code:
./luajit: frontend/device/kobo/device.lua:1791: unrecognized Kobo model spaBWTPV with device id 395 |

Hi guys, I'm on Clara BW firmware 4.44.23552. I'm trying to exclude koreader folder from being scanned in nickel but the code in the config file keeps deleting itself after rebooting. I'm trying to manually install koreader without kfmon as I will start koreader and load the books from within. Just a simple setup that doesn't need fixing after a firmware update, but it is not that simple

That would suggest you are creating a setting with an error.
What I have on my Kobos under [FeatureSettings]for the exclude setting is: Code:
[FeatureSettings] ExcludeSyncFolders=(\\.(?!kobo|adobe).+|([^.][^/]*/)+\\..+)|(screensaver_old) You can remove the |(screensaver_old) since that exists for when I toggle the screensaver images off by renaming /.kobo/screensaver to /.kobo/screensaver_old from NickelMenu. |

I finally caved in and used the one click solution. Chatgpt was giving me another code, excluding specific folder, the one you gave is the right one. However kfmon quickly stopped doing its thing and clicking on a book didn't open it in koreader but in nickel. So I just uninstalled kfmon. Koreader broke after I put a few zipped collections of epubs, deleting them in the process, I had to put a fresh copy of koreader and avoid zip in the future. Another annoying thing is that for any task requiring internet connection it asks to turn on WiFi despite it being on and it crashes in the process,.so basically I can't use the advanced features. Plato does the same by the way. Funny thing is that I don't need much, mostly better fonts and trimming the top and bottom margins as much as possible, footnotes being actually at the bottom of the page, not at the end of the book etc.But I have been testing extensively and run into so many bugs that at the end I will just stick with the stock reader. First world problems

Hi, all...I've grown very confused over the past few days.
I have a Clara BW. Works great. I have NickelMenu, NicketClock, NickelHardback...they all work fine. And I can install KOReader with the one-click installer, no problem. But then I have KFMon, which I don't want. But if I go through the KFMon uninstall, KOReader is not on the NickelMenu. The KFMon and Koreader folders are still on the device, but I see no png file to launch KOReader or the KFMon log. So, please ELI5... given that I have NickelMenu successfully set up...how do I get KOReader on my device and NOT have KFMon? Thank you. |

In your NickelMenu config file add the following lines to launch KOReader and Plato directly from NickelMenu (file lives in /.adds/nm):
Code:
menu_item : main : KOReader : cmd_spawn : quiet : exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/koreader.sh menu_item : main : Plato : cmd_spawn : quiet : exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/plato/plato.sh Please note that there will not a .png file to launch KOReader or Plato. It must be done through popping NickelMenu's windows. Last edited by DNSB; 02-07-2026 at 09:53 PM. |
