I use Calibre to organize things other than books. For example, my piano sheet music. Title is obvious, Author is of course composer. Series is used for various "groupings" that may be evident when looking at my screenshot below, if you're familiar with these pieces. I use the color of the cover I generate to indicate the difficulty of the piece - tan is easy, blue is intermediate, gray is advanced. I store the scans of my sheet music as PDF files. The "IDs" field of Calibre I use to store a URL to an online performance of the piece if available (usually a YouTube video). I use tags to identify the pieces period - Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc. and also to fine-tune the difficulty level (e.g., instead of just "Intermediate" as in the cover colors, the tags will say "Early Intermediate, Intermediate, Late Intermediate, etc.)
