Some devices also have less RAM than others which is also a factor in enabling features.

Thanks, cool! That sounds like something they'd might want to limit and have the power to (considering they push out the OS updates).

Okay, I bought a Libra Colour and now I can't figure out how to select text and make an annotation than spans over two or more pages.

I select the text by pressing the screen and try dragging to the lower right corner to go to the next page (like with the Kindle). It's not working (page is not flipped). I've tried selecting text and pressing the next page button. That's not working either.

Clues please...

I think you'll need to use kepub for multi-page highlights. You can convert your epubs in Calibre or with Kepubify:
https://pgaskin.net/kepubify/

Oh crap, I'll try to return it. I send articles with https://pushtokindle.fivefilters.org/ all the time and I can't stand doing a conversion for each and every file.

And what Reader (that you'd want) can do multi-page highlights with ePub?

Without researching, I'm not sure. But I'm so tired after Amazon screwed up highlights on my Kindle and looking for options that I'm ready to ditch e-readers. The whole point of having one for me was to be able to highlight. I might as well print them on paper and highlight with a pen if no reader can highlight ePubs without these limitations.

Actually, it hasn't always been automatic. I got Kobo to change it many years ago because you used to have to type out the name for the export file. (I'm a Kobo beta tester.)

Good to know. I haven't used Kobos for that long, I bought my first Kobo in 2019. Before that I had only Kindles.

Reading ePubs on a Kobo, the only way I've found for multi-page annotations without using kepub is to reduce the font size to put the text on one page or to export the multiple annotations and combine them on my computer.

Thanks for confirming that I didn't escape the hassle by getting a Kobo

For eBooks you want to highlight, use KePub. For eBooks you don't need/want to highlight, use ePub. There's a very simple way to to it. I have my calibre set to allow me to choose if I want ePub or KePub sent to my Kobo.

I have a Y/N column titled KePub with a lookup of #kepub.

Go to Preferences and search for Kobo Touch. Then Customize plugin. From there, go to the Collections, covers & uploads tab.

Under Uploading of books, select Use Kobo viewer for EPUB books.

For template to decide conversion, put in the following code.
Code:
program: $#kepub == 'yes'
and in the custom column, put in a Y if you want the eBook to be in KePub format.

The OP doesn't use calibre or transfer books via USB. They read web articles which they download via wifi. So no convenient way for them to use kepub instead of epub.
