I have a new Kobo Clara BW with 4.43.23418 firmware. Yesterday I did the oneclick install and koreader + Plato etc all worked. However I saw KFMon status from time to time at bottom of screen (not sure if this is expected or not) and I have decided I don't need the ability to launch koreader/plato via the PNG icons. Using the nickel menu is fine.

What is the best way to just install nickel menu with the koreader option (no plato) on it?

Please, can someone update the One-Click Kobo Packages in the first page? They are still using the April version. Thanks

I installed koreader and unfortunately did not make the change to disable indexing so now I have 119 unread books which are just image files are from the .adds/koreader directory. I've made the change to exclude those directories but how do I clean up now? Do I need to factory reset?

EDIT: If anyone else hits this - easy answer! Just delete the koreader folder, eject, re-index happens and files go away.... then put koreader back (after you have added the no indexing commands to the .conf file).

@shamanNS Usually I prefer to update KOReader by hand. At the end, I created a .zip package with the latest KOReader version and it works fine.

Hi, I just updated from an older version of Plato and afterwards it didn't start anymore. Checking the Plato log file it became clear that the settings file format had changed. I had to modify the color line in the sketch.pen section to this new format:
Quote:
[sketch.pen]
...
color = { gray = 0 }
Just in case somebody stumbles upon the same problem.

Copying Entire Folder Structures Across

Hi, just joined literally minutes ago and am posting here as this came up as a result on Google, so please forgive if this isn't the correct place to ask this.

Basically I've gone from using a Nook Touch, (at least I think it was a Touch) to using a Kobo Libra 2.

The one thing I miss is that with the Nook I could copy entire folders of an authors books across and they'd appear in their folders/sub-folders as copied across. The Kobo forces me to create collections, which I admit might seem ok until it comes to the issue that my three main folders break down to
1,275 Files, 236 Folders
1,074 Files, 208 Folders
1,573 Files, 297 Folders

The official blurb from Kobo states
The Kobo Libra 2 has 32GB of internal storage, enough to hold approximately 24,000 eBooks

So even with 741 folders containing 3922 books that would mean creating 741 collections

I've tried to establish if KOReader would allow me to just transfer everything across simply whilst maintaining the folder/sub-folder structure, but some answers said yes, others said no.

So I thought I'd ask here to hopefully get a firm answer, and some guidance.

The answer is yes. KoReader does use a folder structure instead of collections.

Since your Kobo stores the book information in a database that is searchable, the structure of the file storage is rather irrelevant. If you use calibre, the metadata management is mostly automated including collection creation if you still want to do so though calibre will allow you to establish arbitrary directory structures using the save to device template.

KOReader will allow you to use directory based storage. OTOH, most people I know who use KOReader also use calibre and use KOReader's ability to search the calibre metadata file stored on the device which is a lot faster than browsing a directory structure.
