Thanks! I probably didn’t notice it earlier since I hadn’t had much sleep when I posted that. I realised it when I upgraded the firmware version. The latest release note seems to come from the newest version, but the version number still shows as 4.32.19501. So frustrating

That almost sounds as if your Libra 2's internal µSD card has reached it's end of life and has gone into read-only mode. You may want to try opening your Libra 2, removing the µSD card and making an image from it. You can then re-image a new µSD card from that image. If that doesn't work, you can request an image for a Libra 2 in the Kobo µSD Card Image Requests thread.

I appreciate the advice given! I tried using a new microSD card, but unfortunately that didn’t fix the issue. However, I managed to solve the problem after coming across a post on this forum from someone who faced the exact same problem as me. The issue was having the matching firmware for my Libra 2 E version, I switched to the G version firmware, and after that I was able to update normally and use NickelMenu without any issues. I’m posting this here so that in the future, if anyone encounters the same problem, they’ll have a reference.

Once again. Thank you, David, for taking the time to help so many people in this community. We really appreciate it

Overdrive on older Kobos?

Hi - I own some older kobos and only one ‘newish’ one (a Libra). I use the Libra mostly at home and use the older ones out and about. I have used Nickelmenu to allow Dropbox integration on all of them which is great. The only thing that still annoys me is the fact that only my Libra can add library books into my Kobo system. Once I have downloaded on the Libra, the books appear on my older Kobos, but if I borrow a book while I’m away from my Libra it seems there is no way to get that book to appear on my older Kobo. (Obviously if I’m away from my Libra I’m also away from my computer so using desktop ADE isn’t an option). I also have a Pocketbook, which can fulfil Libby ascm files downloaded from Dropbox but I can’t find a way to make that work on Kobo and the Pocketbook won’t directly fulfil Kobo purchased ascm so also isn’t a complete solution. Is there really no way to enable the overdrive code that enables newer Kobos to link to library borrows? I currently have only one Overdrive library card, so I’d be fine with hard coding that in if that were an option. Otherwise I’m looking at buying a new small-format Kobo for travelling, which I would be sorry to do as I love my older devices and like to keep using them.

Is the linked nickelmenu file in the very first post of this thread still the latest one to use on a new Kobo Clara BW with the new N365B motherboard/battery and the 4.43.xxxx series firmware?

Not an issu but clarification on using new search engine

Just a minor issue I had after installing NickelMenu: I wrongly assumed that added search engines were accessed by clicking on the new NickelMenu icon on Home and My Books screens.

NickelMenu correctly adds them to the Search menu when a word is highlighted! That should have been obvious to me, but I'm noting it here because others might make that error, too.

Kudus for your Kobo know-how! This add-on not only fixes the issue that Google Search no longer works on my Kobo Color reader, but opens an entire API, enabling the device to be far more useful.

Thank You!

I made a PR that adds the ability to take screenshot directly https://github.com/pgaskin/NickelMenu/pull/206

Old method: override the power button's function: it no longer can turn on/off the device. If you don't have a sleep cover and accidently sleep the device, you'll need to reboot it: https://github.com/pgaskin/NickelMenu/issues/151

New method: doesn't do that. But it will be more useful when NickelMenu supports shortcut keys: https://github.com/pgaskin/NickelMenu/issues/207

Do you know if your code works with older firmware? Do you know if this works on all of the various models with a version 4.x firmware?

I know the code I posted for Nickelmenu works. It's just turn on screenshots, take the screenshots, turn off screenshots. Done.

Check the code and you'll see it also uses the Screenshots=true method, but it does everything automatically. It should work with older firmwares. I don't know why you are so aggressive.

As I said, I made it to be used with https://github.com/pgaskin/NickelMenu/issues/207

I see the button you pressed to take the screen shot. But how would you press that button if you wanted a full screen screenshot while displaying a book? As in you don't want a menu bar in the way.

Hello,
does anyone have nickelMenu working with firmware 4.38.2342?

This is my first try with nickelMenu, but it seems not working. I've followed the configuration, create the
Code:
KOBOeReader/.adds/nm/config
file whith a copy paste from the doc:
Code:
menu_item :main :Show an Error :dbg_error :This is an error message!
menu_item :main :Do Nothing :cmd_spawn :sleep 60
menu_item :main :Dump Syslog :cmd_spawn :logread > /mnt/onboard/.adds/syslog.log
menu_item :main :Kernel Version :cmd_output :500:uname -a

menu_item :main    :Telnet             :cmd_spawn          :quiet:/bin/mount -t devpts | /bin/grep -q /dev/pts || { /bin/mkdir -p /dev/pts && /bin/mount -t devpts devpts /dev/pts; }

menu_item :browser :Invert Screen :nickel_setting :toggle :invert
menu_item :browser :Open Pop-Up :nickel_browser :modal
After the reboot, there is no menu, no syslog file available and no telnet...
I'va also tried to enable ssh (rename the ssh file config as explained in the file) but I have a "connection refused" immediately

Thanks,
Shoto
