Unofficial Patches for 4.38.23429

This thread is for the unofficial patches for the new firmware 4.38.23429. Most of the patches work. It may work for later firmware. I cannot say as I've not tried.

All of the patchers have been updated thanks to @geek1011

I would like to thank @aardvark for the original updated Windows .exe, geek1011 for fixing all of patchers and @jackie-w for help in updating some patches.

Use the file kobopatch.yaml to override the no to yes for each patch you want to apply. I cannot say all the patches work. Most of them do apply. If you have any issue with any of the patches, just post about the issue.

This is the same format as the unofficial patches for 4.38.23171.

There are more patchers if you need a different one not in the ZIP file. Please go to https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...es/tag/v0.16.0 to see if what you need is there if it's not in the ZIP file.

I find it hilarious that we refer to these as UNOFFICIAL patches. What makes ANY patches official?

Before I would call these patches official, all of the patches would have to be tested to make sure they apply. I've not done that.

It's a mistake in the ZIP filename. The contents are correct. I've corrected the filename.

A for non-Windows. No idea. I doubt it though. It should be fairly easy to find a Windows system to use. Surely you know someone who uses Windows.

All that is needed is for someone to compile the fixed code on a Linux box... Not exactly rocket science.

Works on my Linux system.

I only actually verified the 24 line spacing values because that's easy to spot. But the basic process of creating a new KoboRoot.tgz based on the kobopatch.yaml file works.

I compiled it for Mac from pgaskin’s latest repository and tested it. It mostly works, though a few patches don’t seem to apply. The patch I wanted to use works fine, though.

Thank you. I can confirm that this works on MacOS 26.0.1. My patches are pretty simple, and all worked:

Dictionary pop-up - increase available text area: yes
Increase library cover size: yes
Series list increase cover thumbnails: yes
Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen: yes
Always show confirmation dialog before upgrading: yes
Don't uppercase header/footer text: yes

For the Mac and Linux, please test the following patches. These did not work before the updated patcher for Windows. If they work, I'll update the ZIP file in the first post. Oh and for the Mac version, I'll need to know what;s the earliest MacOS it works with. I don't need these patches applied to a Kobo. I just need to know they don't throw an error when patching the firmware. Thanks.

I think testing individual patches is not needed. It's the exact same GO source compiled for two different architectures and three operating systems.
