Prevent firmware upgrade while syncing in Overdrive book

Unfortunately my ADE does not work properly to transfer Overdrive books to my kobo. (It works fine with cloudLibrary, so I'd rather not risk mucking that up.) Thus I need to sync the Overdrive book over. But can I do a sync without it automatically installing the new firmware? I'm not using Instapaper and would rather wait until the possible bootlooping issues get sorted out. I have KOreader/Plato, a few patches and NickleMenu/NickleClock and don't need any extra hassles ATM.

You can either apply the patch to always ask before firmware updates, or you can apply the patch to block firmware updates entirely, but for the latter patch you need to use this updated version in order for it to work:

Can you download the epub books from your library using ADE/Overdrive? If so, you could most likely strip the DRM and transfer the deDRm'd epub.

Years ago when my library offered both Overdrive and Cloudlibrary I had a similar issue with my Nook ST. IIRC, the computer can only be authorized for one or the other, not both. If you have access to a second computer, try installing the ADE on that and then transferring books. I ended up using a desktop PC for one and a laptop for the other program to transfer books.

This is not the case, at least for me. My library offers both OverDrive/Libby and CloudLibrary, and I can download ACSM files from both systems and redeem the books using the same Adobe account.

Ok, so I went with this option. Appeared to go well until (safely) ejecting. Then I get to this image of (press the power button?) so I did. Got "Welcome to kobo screen" connected to wifi and immediately updated. Currently at "Activation Options". What the ??? happened?

Edit: Looks like it returned my to original(?) firmware. At least most of books are present (I have backups if I find any missing). All customizations appear to be gone. Oh, well, so much for avoiding hassle. Hopefully I can get cloudLibrary/Overdrive re-setup. Rest can wait.

Did you use the wrong firmware version for the update? If the update files were mismatched, you might have triggered a factory reset to the original firmware since the current firmware became corrupt through the update.

No. I used 4.38.23171 which is what was installed on the kobo. I double-checked that before patching. I did reuse the firmware that was in the src folder (from the previous time it was patched) rather than re-downloading it. I just enabled that one extra option, deleted the old output files and ran the .bat file.

This is the only time I've ever had an issue with patching.

Got Overdrive re-setup and the book auto-synced to kobo. Manually downloaded and am back to 4.38.23171. Leaving wifi off until I actually need it again.
