Post Best buy Kindle paperwhite-Expert recommendations to choose.

I researched the best e-reader as I've been trying to cut down on screen time from my phone. i have been experiencing eye strain and headaches after long reading sessions. i went through reviews from trusted sources like Best Buy and The Verge and after comparing many options these two kept coming up as the top choices:
Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 16GB

however, i am having trouble deciding which one would be better for me and i would love to get your expert advice and hoping maybe some avid readers or tech enthusiasts on this forum can also share their advice.
i usually read in low light before bed. Which one is recommended for me? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Where do you get your ebooks and in what format? Kindles cannot read the epub format without conversion, and also cannot read library books outside the US.

OTOH, it's easy enough to convert epubs to Kindle-compatible formats or use Amazon's Send to Kindle service for this. Unless the books have DRM, in which case it must be removed first.

All review sites are biased toward Kindle. Only the best solution if you buy Amazon Kindle ebooks or have a KU sub.

Otherwise: Kobo, PocketBook, Onyx Boox

Kobo is out. There is no BW with a 7" screen. The larger BW models the Sage and and Elipsa 2E have batteries that are too poor and they are not portable enough.

Given that the OP is looking at a Kindle Paperwhite, that means the OP wants a larger then 6" screen so the Clara BW is also out.

The Sage battery is only about 5% less than official Clara BW reading time, if front light, BT & WiFi is off.

There are 6" and 8" BW Kobo and some people (not me) find the 7" colour OK. The Pocketbook Era 7" is a mono option for 7".

Kobo needs to get it's head unstuck from it's backside and make a replacement Libra 2.

Unless you need more storage for some reason, I would go with the cheaper one, which in principle has a less yellow and more uniformly illuminated screen (although each individual device may vary). My assessment is similar to the one shown in this publication...

You would be paying $40 more (in the U.S.) for wireless charging, 8 GBs more storage and an auto-adjusting front light. Otherwise they're pretty much the same. None of these extra features would be that big of a draw for me, but you may feel differently. Wireless charging might be nice, but 16 GBs of storage is plenty unless you're reading Mangas and PDFs.I've had one reader with auto-adjusting light, but I turn that feature off because it never seems to adjust correctly for my eyes. (But that may a personal issue with me.)
