All books removed while in Airplane mode
For the second time, my Paperwhite 11th Gen 16GB removed all the books from my library while in Airplane mode. I'm aware of the bug where books gets removed when wifi is turned on after being off for a long time. This isn't that, to be clear. I regularly turn the wifi on to send and receive books from Amazon, and this happened while in Airplane mode. The wifi had been on a couple of days before with no problem.
Anyway, in my library, all the books showed as without covers, showing their titles on the generic no-cover image. When I select any of them, a message pops up saying the book has been removed from the device and is no longer available. Moreover, when I went to 'device info' to check the storage, it read as 0.2GB out of 0.48GB being available, which is bizarre. I don't know what is going on, and given this is the second time this has happened, I'm wondering if this device is now defective and should be disposed of. |

If you have calibre, i suggest you plug your PW5 into your calibre library to see what calibre sees is on it. Also have a look outside of calibre what's on it.

Thanks for that. I plugged my PW5 16GB into Calibre, which showed all the books on the device as they should be, along with the correct storage amount (4.2GB). I have no idea why it decided to glitch like this.

Im sure you have probably tried this, but just in case, have you powered off the Kindle completely and then re-started it? My Kindle Voyage would sometimes get odd glitches, one of which sounds very similar to what you are describing, but powering off completely and re-starting usually cleared the problem.
As I say I'm sure you've probably already tried this but it's sometimes worth stating the obvious ![]() |

I'm guessing you may be out of space given that you only have .2MB left. So if it's trying to index who no space left, that could maybe be an issue. I suggest making more free space and seeing what happens.

They said .2GB, not MB. 200 megabytes is definitely not danger territory: lots of people run that full routinely (to block updates) and nothing goes wrong (though I guess, in the end, there would be increased SSD wear).

OTOH, a 16GB device reporting "0.2GB out of 0.48GB being available" does sound like an issue that might benefit from a power cycle/factory reset. My 32GB WiFi Kindle shows 26.91GB of 27.30GB. For a 16GB device, it should be showing just a titch more than 0.48GB (substracted 16GB from my storage would give 10.91GB of 11.3GB.

Strangely, when I plugged my device into my computer, the documents folder showed all my books on the device, as did Calibre. After having connected it to Calibre, and then ejecting it, all my books showed up correctly on my device again. I tried restarting it the first time this glitch happened, which didn't do anything.
