Calibre for CDs?

Just an ideal thought, it works fine for books but is there a version for CDs? Ideally one that I can scan the bar code and have it find the info in the way I can do for books?

Thanks John

LibraryThing has good support for CDs. I just added this by barcode:

For best results, use a music source, such as Amazon UK Music.

LibraryThing has Android and iOS apps that support barcodes using phone camera. I didn't have much luck though.

See this thread on LT for a bit more detail:

PS: I'm not affiliated with LT; just a happy user of many years.

PPS: I was just reading a post on another forum about using Jellyfin (a well-known media server and player) for serving books. Funny, that.

I'd prefer to keep my information on my local machine.

CLZ sounds functional but $x a year?

My bar code scanner works fine for ISBNs but not apparently for CDs at least the couple I tried. I suspect it will stay a dream.

I lied, holding the bar code scanner slightly differently I did manage to scan the bar code. Dropping the bar code numbers into Amazon pulls up the CD.

Calibre tells me the number is not an ISBN. So it would seem to be a matter of using the number to look up the details somewhere. Some sort of API? A plugin for Calibre?

Exact Audio Copy has a look up feature for CDs.

GnuDB.org appears to be a source of data.

I use MusicBee. All local machine, can rip CDs and identify them and sort into a user-defined folder structure. no barcode to my knowledge, but album auto-tagger:

It looks though like GnuDB is still there.

I have a couple of thousand CDs, mainly classical and they work best as physical CDs even .opus isn't that wonderful, and .MP3 doesn't cut it. I own fair number of physical books as well which I keep details of in Calibre. It's basically being able to scan the bar codes on the physical CDs I'm after.

Thanks for the input though.

Discogs can search by barcode and will tell you pretty much everything you want to know about what's on a CD.

I think I agree with you but grabbing that information and shoving it in a local database remains a slight problem.

Thanks for the thought.
