Most companies that use voice recognition have it set so that if you cannot be understood or they don't have what you are saying as an option, you get send to an operator/human being to then say what you want so you can be properly transferred.

If it's like one system I was recently victimized by, I had to speak very slowly and use military pronunciation for numbers (tree niner fower fife instead of 3945) before it would understand me. At least, it gave my spouse a good laugh listening to me sound like a slowed down recording...

I had one awhile ago ,say why you are calling today, as soon as I said complaint it cut me off

I soon cottoned on, called back immediately and said renewal - as soon as I got through to an agent I said I don't want to renew I need to make a complaint - but I have two now, the original and one about your automated phone system
