K3G 0.14.N Doesn't Work.
Hi, I'm new to jailbreaking Kindles so high chance this is due to my own ignorance, but I noticed that the 0.14.N gives me a U007 when I try to install it on my K3G.
However, interestingly, the 0.13.N file that I got from the 'Snapshots' thread, does seem to work. I think this either means that:
Quite odd. |

Kindle 4 shows old tamil fonts
I use Kindle 4. I am fond of reading books in Tamil(Indian language). However, my K4 renders the books in old tamil fonts. (Glyphs of some of the letters in Tamil such as னு, னை have been changed probably half a century ago). Although I can understand those letters, it's annoying to translate at the top of head every time.
I tried installing different fonts including Fertigo Tamil (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=116098) , Tiro Tamil using the hack described in this Thread. Though it changes the English fonts, I don't see any difference in Tamil fonts. Any help in making it work would be appreciated! Thanks! |

Hi all, looking for some help.
I've had my K4 for a while with the jailbreak and the screensaver hack. I've been trying to get the font hack to work. I've installed the font hack through MRPI and it changes fonts EVERYWHERE in the kindle except for in the books themselves. I've tried swapping out for the Museo pack listed early in this thread, and it also changes the fonts everywhere BUT the book text. Any ideas? I also have a Voyage, so I've been holding them side-by-side and comparing the changes to make sure I'm not crazy. When I swapped out the fonts after the hack install, I changed the whole list from mono_bold.ttf through serif_regular.ttf, including 12 fonts... Thanks! JPMYNWA |

![]() ![]() For anyone trying to get koreader on a Kindle Keyboard, this is a great simplification process (of course, change the .bins needed for your model, I have a K3G). I had tried the multiple tools and links a few times before but following this got it working. Thanks tetris11. Last edited by pdurrant; 01-15-2025 at 02:19 PM. |

I've read the complete forum, did all things good (i guess) but i cant get to work the cover mode on screensaver. Always showing the default message. Tried with a few books, making sure all of them had covers, but nothing. Everythin works great despite the cover mode. I wish this works any ideas

(sorry, a side note
![]() Why do you need linkss folder in the first place? You need to take a few steps back. 1) You need JB package from NiLuJe’s Snapshots thread (stickied in this forum) 2) You also need to install MKK package - make sure to choose the right bin file for your Kindle Model, read the readme.txt file carefully 3) Then, if all was installed well, you can install KUAL and then Screensaver Hacks, with their own methods. Also found in the Snapshots. After that, you can use KUAL to set up Screensavers hacks. Of course, you need to provide your own screen saver files to Kindle |

Please forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, but I have acquired a Kindle 3, and I am wanting to get my epub collection transferred to it. Stock firmware doesn't allow this. I have searched this thread and others, and I've seen conflicting information about the possibility of this and/or the requirements. From what I can guess, those who were successful are reading with either FBReader or KOReader, but no one seems to mention how the epub files were transferred to the device (wifi/USB, Calibre/syncthing/direct-transfer?), nor if they are put in a different folder from the rest of the ebooks, to somehow trick the firmware into allowing the transfer.
This thread has, I think, two references to successful epub reading on a Kindle 3 or 4, and I would greatly appreciate any confirmation of process. I do my own Linux server maintenance, so I'm not afraid of a command line, if that's needed. Just looking for pointers, to get me moving in the right direction. |

See: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=209276 for information regarding koreader on kindles. Spoiler alert: The kindle must be jailbroken, but that should be possible on any K3, but don't try one that only works on newer kindles. You can put the EPUBs anywhere you want by any method you like, but I think copying over USB is easiest. koreader probably has a default location and you can probably change that. I've never heard of running FBreader on kindles. I guess it would be possible to do it in a linux chroot. |

I apologize. I was under the impression that the kindle would reject .epub files from USB transfer, based on reading other topics. Turns out you can transfer the files just fine, but the built-in reader doesn't see them. Now to jailbreak and add a reader that does. Thank you!

Jailbreak kindle pw6 screensaver problem
Hi,
I search the forum but can,t find solutions. I just jailbreak my 12y old kindle pw6 (no ads). Everything works great. KOReader work excellent but I can’t have custom screensaver when l’m using kindle system. it’s works only when I’m using koreder system and close on it. Can I do something with it? I try to change the code in frondend kindle but that doesn’t work. Doing screensaver like covers of books also doesn’t work (my kindle it’s to old for that option). Putting screensaver folder at kindle outside koreder also doesn’t work. Is it something I can do to change that? |
