Problem after importing Calibre content in stock reader

I have transferred a large collection of books to my device using a wireless connection to Calibre from KOReader. The books show up in KOReader fine, and can be read as expected.

The problem comes when I am back in the stock reader (nickel?). The Importing content screen appears, and proceeds *very* slowly, probably due to the number of books, with the import. Eventually the import completes and I'm placed back at the home screen, at which point the device tells me there are no books on the device, and likely as not the device then reboots automatically.

I'm interested in knowing what I could try before going down the factory reset option.

How many is "large"?

You can use NickelMenu to re-scan your library, or you can sign out of your Kobo account on the device and resign back in to re-scan (although that will lose your reading statuses and annotations).

About 6K books. The problem is the scanning. It happens, and has done multiple times, and occasionally I have seen the library on the device at then end change to reflect that some books are imported. Trouble is, as I say, the device is then rebooted and we're back to square one.

You need to start over. Don't do such a large amount of eBooks in one go. Do them in smaller chunks. Do it in Nickel with a USB connection to calibre.

I'm back. Because of reasons, I deleted and reloaded (via USB) my entire library on my Libra 2. I do not have Koreader.

I tried to do about 2200 books in one shot. The first time, the Kobo rebooted during the import process, and when it rebooted, said I only had around 900 books (I wish I had tracked these numbers closer, but I was distracted).

I then loaded about 800 books. It finished the import, but the total number of books didn't match. I rebooted, and the book count was correct. I loaded the last set, same thing.

So I eventually got everything back, but it wasn't as pretty of a process as it could have been.

The last time I factory reset my Clara HD, I reloaded ~11,000 books on it (it has a 128GB µSD card). The books copied over and imported happily though a lot slower than on my Sage. I suspect the main difference is that I have for years used Sigil to edit and error correct ebooks before sending them to my ereaders. Kobo ereaders are not happy with garbage in.

Sony Readers were not happy with garbage in. Kindles are also not happy with garbage in.
