Kindle Touch JailBreak Help
I have an unregistered Kindle Touch 3G/wifi currently at 5.1.0. I need some recommendation(s) on which approach I should use to jailbreak this unit in order to setup sshd on it via USB. It was purchased with the ads. Amazon supports informs me that it can no longer be registered

Unless you are keeping it back for some reason, you should install the firmware updates for it. Since it's pretty far behind you'll have to install them stepwise to get up to the latest for it. You'll need to install them manually, too.

should I be using the kt4 or kt5 Firmware??? the unit serial # is B00F series. winter break seems to be the latest/greatest but the notes indicates that the unit needs to be registered.

Scroll down. There's a section just for the Kindle Touch. The K4/K5 are the non-Touch. Winterbreak won't work on a Kindle that old, though. It needs a K5 or newer. The KT is a 4th gen device.
Here's a handy guide to use to ID a Kindle: https://www.androidauthority.com/whi...-have-1073996/ Last edited by Frogm4n; 02-22-2025 at 12:01 PM. |

the linked charts shows B00F is 4th gen Kindle Touch with Nickname of KT or K5W. This repository https://files.cocaine.trade/firmware/kindle/ does not list either one. Where might I find the appropiate firmware to download and update??

I am up to 5.3.2.1 but I still need some direction on which Jailbreak I should be looking at. I would like to avoid updating beyond a jailbreakable firmware version. Is winterbreak a viable option for my case??? Thanks to all who have responded so far!

If you look at the Kindle firmware updates page, you will see quite a few of the older Kindles have entries such as the ones in the image below where you have to go stepwise to get to the latest firmware update from an earlier one. The explanation I read several times on MobileRead over the years was that to keep the size of the firmware updates down, the firmware updates were only the needed files to update from version x.xx to x.yy.

Kubrick was the solution I used to enable usb network and install JailBreak . I now have diagnostic partition enabled.
