This might be a stupid question, but how useful is even a modded K3 (or a kindle keyboard 3rd gen) nowadays, modded or not? Is there anything handy I can do with it? I'm new to all this so please give me some slack

You can still read books with it, if that's what you meant.

Yes, its still useful for reading -- especially cracking DRM since Amazon still provides weaker encrypted books to this device. But is there anything fun I can do with homebrew software? i.e. is stuff like KOReader or KUAL available on this Kindle model?

			That's not true (luckily

) I just installed KOReader on a k3/kindle keyboard today. Only tried it so far with books that were already on the device - so only .mobis - but it worked beautifully, and the version I installed is even customized for buttons rather than touchscreen. This was the first time I'd installed anything extra on the device so I started from the beginning: 1) jailbreak 2) MKK 3) KUAL 4) the extra extensions listed on the KUAL page: helper, kual plus, gawk, MRPI 5) koreader - the legacy version as listed at the bottom of the installation documentation Probably not all those installs were necessary but I figured I might as well if I was already at it. |

I love my K3 so much that I keep trying to use it.

However, I'm so used to the frontlight on all my other readers that I give up after a half an hour or so unless I'm in a very bright spot indoors, or reading in bright sunlight outdoors. |

Random question, is there any decent IRC client for this device? Talking on a screen like this that's easy on the eyes seems nice, especially with a dedicated keyboard

KOReader has now hotkeys for non-touch devices. Arguably, you can access more items wuickly with these hotkeys than on a touch device

Side buttons are also great! |
