[Metadata Source Plugin] Kobo Books

Sorry but I can't find anything in the Kobo Books plugin that refers to a cover template.

Are you perhaps referring to this Generate Cover plugin? If so, the link to its help documentation is listed on the first post of that thread.

Unfortunately, this plugin is no longer maintained as davidfor died last year. I would suggest trying the Kobo Metadata plugin - you can run both of them.

I'm not able to reproduce the error for the same book that you have encountered. My Calibre log shows no error and all metadata are populated correctly.

Can you try running the plugin again to make sure you didn't just caught the Kobo servers for your location at a bad time?

Also, what OS and what version of calibre and where do you live?

Calibre's "plugin updates" feature tells me this plugin is deprecated, yet I see nothing about that here (this is the thread Calibre tells me is the plugin's home page)? Should I remove it? Is there a reason given anywhere that I'm missing?

Note that if you have any kobo: identifiers, you will want to create a rule in Preferences > Look & Feel > Book Details > Create rules to convert identifiers into links. Use the template https://www.kobo.com/ca/en/ebook/{id} (with your local regional code in place of /ca/).

You can use just https://www.kobo.com/ebook/{id}, it will redirect to your default regional store automatically, though I left this plugin alone, just disabled (it'll still work to parse and link the kobo identifiers).
