Clara BW New Kobo Clara BW showing Authors/Series never loaded

New Kobo Clara BW that will be a gift. Wanted to sideload from my own library, used SideloadedMode=true to bypass register and sign in so they can do that part.
Used Cailbre to load books, but device is showing Authors/Series that I do not own and didn't load. I can't figure out how to delete these. They do not show up in Calibre, nor could I find them in the Kobo folder.
Any help appreciated!

When in SideloadedMode there are unfortunately some default entries in the database

Have you tried deleting the database and rebooting? If you force the device to create a clean database, the entries will probably disappear.

Thank you for that quick, concise answer. That will stop me from going down the fix-it rabbit-hole. I cannot register the device as I want the intended user to be able to do that, so I will simply load it with enough books that they don't even notice the odd apparently Japanese and romance novel that doesn't actually exist.

I don't think that there's anything to stop you from registering the device and then deregistering it. The recipient can then register it to their own account.

Appreciate the info! Unfortunately, I cannot register the device, as it's a gift, so the first thread is not a fix. And I didn't see anything about the dummy entries in the second thread?

Hmm, didn't think of that, but am loathe to test that since this is going across the country. I want to make this as simple as possible on the other end. As it stands, I'm going to just fill it with books, then they can just either start reading and ignore the ghosts, or copy the database, factory reset, register then load them back in.

Well, FWIW, I've sold several used Kobos on eBay over the years. They've all been ones that I've registered and then deregistered before selling. No recipient has ever reported any problems as a result.
