If you can't access your old settings, make sure your new columns are of the right type - there's tooltips if you mouse over the labels:

In fact if you just select the option "Create new column" in the drop down besides each column type, calibre will open the add column screen with the requisite column type / name / etc pre-configured.

Migrating sideloaded epubs from one Kobo to another, including status
Nearly all my books are sideloaded to a Kobo ereader using Calibre. I'd like to migrate to a new device, including all the books and their read status (ideally with the same metadata like time read). Is this possible, using KoboUtilities (or some other method)? If yes, how?

Yes. You can use KU to store the reading position and last-read date to custom columns and then restore it back to your new device.

Hi there, I just upgraded from a Kobo Clara 2e to a Kobo Libra Colour and I have an existing Calibre library that I manage when I was still using my Clara. So I set up my KLC and everything is working fine, the books are sent without issues and all the information is correct. I would like to sync the reading progress between my Calibre Library and my KLC so I went to Kobo Utilities and restored the reading percentages, last read date, and last reading location (these are all set up in my Calibre as custom columns). That went fine and I can see my books getting correctly tagged as finished and updating the book I'm currently reading to 33% which is also correct.
Now my issue started when I connected my KLC back to my Calibre to update my reading percentage (I usually do this every Saturday so that it saves the reading progress in my Calibre and also update my Goodreads reading progress through the Goodreads add-in); Calibre detected the reader but it says I don't have new progress so nothing to sync even though I'm 38% on the book. I also did a test where I read a new book in my Libra, made the percentage around 20% and connected to Calibre. Calibre wasn't able to pick up these change where my Clara 2e is able to sync new books that I have started reading. I tested this issue with my Clara 2e and set the book progress to 50%, when I connected to Calibre, it had no issue picking up the new percentage. Is there currently an issue with the new Kobo models that doesn't let you sync the progress you made from the device to Calibre? |

Did you create a new profile for the KLC in Kobo Utilities?

Hi Phil,
I was using the Default profile initially. I created a new profile for my KLC but that didn't work, I even deleted the Default profile but Calibre is still not storing information from the ereader |

Have you tried separate profiles for each Kobo? And IIRC I had some trouble getting Kobo Utilites profiles to "stick" sometimes when setting up a new Kobo. It took some repetitious fiddling to get everything on the KU tabs to look right and stay that way.
I currently have three Kobo readers all working as they should (but not a Libra). The Profiles tab should show the current profile name and matching device. The Devices tab should show the same currently connected device name. |

In the Kobo Utilities customization screen, what items do you have checked under Store on Connect?

I'm not sure what else could be happening. I always have multiple books open and the reading %'s are picked up properly by calibre every time I connect. I'm assuming you have the correct boxes checked in the KU tabs.
I would use the Restore function in KU to set your two test books back 0%. Then just read a couple of books normally for a couple of days and see what happens. If that does not work. I'm sure some of the local wizards here will chime in with advice. |

I did not select Only if more recent and Not if finished in library so that I can see what books are getting read by Calibre. I did a few more test and factory reset my Libra, opened a few books randomly and progressed the reading percentage and it went fine. Calibre still sees the correct % and it also see the new books that I started "reading" but once I reconnect my Libra for the third time that's when everything goes wrong. It feels like the ereader takes a "snapshot" of all the reading % up to the point when I connected my ereader on the 2nd time and then keeping it in memory. So now even if I add a new book and progress the %, it will now see that snapshot. It looks like something is happening after the second connect that causes this. |

"Remove annotations files" KeyError
I'm trying to clean up the annotations files in my old Kobo to simplify migration to a new Kobo. When I select "Remove annotations files" (with the old Kobo plugged in) I get this error:
Code:
