I have a question about Audiobooks
Does anyone know what is going on I am trying to put an audiobook from my laptop to my Kindle Paperwhite and I was to do this:
1. Put in the documents section in a folder in the documents sections on the Kindle Paperwhite and I did this it didn’t show up on my Kindle and I took it out of the folder in the document section and still didn’t show up.

2. I tried to put it in the Audiobook in the Audible folder and didn’t show up there either.

3. I converted it to MP3 and that didn’t work either.

4. I was told I needed to convert the MP3 to AAX but the problem with that I have no idea what program to use to do that.

Can anyone please help me out here

The kindle does not play mp3 audiobooks. Some kindles will download audiobooks from your Audible account and play to a bluetooth speaker, but that is it. You'll have to find another gadget to play mp3 audiobooks. I use ipods or my Fire 10.

Well somebody told me I need to convert the Audiobook to AAX but I don’t know what program to use to do that

That advice is very, very, outdated. Kindles have been locked down to only Audible for over a decade. The last stock Kindle to play user-loaded audio was the Touch from back in 2011. If you jailbreak then there are options, but I'm not aware if they work on Kindles that are BlueTooth only for audio. Do some searching for "kindle audiobook sideload" and you'll find all sorts of threads on all sorts of places and none of them have a modern solution. Don't confuse threads about Amazon Fire tablets as having any applicability for an eink Kindle like your Paperwhite.

I suspect the poster was referring to Sound eXchange. See SoX is the Swiss Army Knife of sound processing utilities.. Also see SoX.

The real issue is that I do not know if SoX supports AAX and the last updates were back in 2015.

It does not.

With the proper mobileread tools installed, mp3 files are supported, which the OP wanted to listen to.

Currently, if its Firmware version is less than or equal to 5.16.2.x, then it is Jailbreakable

Dear Jon, such a trusting soul! Did you actually download the file? Did you notice that you got 14.4.2? Did you look at the project page? Did you notice the latest version for Windows and other supported OS is 14.4.2? Did you notice the files show as 2015-02-22? There are no code updates after 2015? There are some comments or bug reports after 2015 but I do not count those as program updates.

And yes, Jon, I checked the above before posting the last update to SoX was in 2015. Please see attached image.
