No Koreader books shown using Wifi connection

I run Koreader last version (2024.07) on my Onix Leaf2 Android device.
When I connect it via USB cable to Calibre on my PC - there's no problem.
When I connect it to Calibre via Wifi, the books on my device don't show up in Calibre.
The connection itself is Ok - both Koreader and Calibre show they are connected.
Pls refer to the Calibre log attached.

I posted this issue to the Calibre forum (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=364358)

I was told there that KoReader just notifies Calibre that it has no books, so that I should post the issue in the Koreader forum instead.
That's what I'm doing now.

I will try to avoid a loop, as your feedback doesn't help me, and that doesn't help you, which won't help me helping you on the future.

The thing is simple:

There's no compatibility between wired and wireless unless you:

1. disable your device driver in calibre
2. use connect to folder on calibre and push books that way
3. setup your inbox dir to the directory you used to push books.

If you do the steps above your books will be reported properly on both wired and wireless. You'll only miss device autodetection on calibre when using usb.

While it should be possible to setup the inbox box to the dir the kobo driver is pushing books it isn't recommended unless you know what you're doing: the reason is, again, simple:

Default templates doesn't match. Pushing books using wired and wireless will end up with a messy file structure.

That doesn't happen by default with "connect to folder".

So if I got you right, your message quoted above (together with your preceding one) boil down to a warning like:
"Koreader-Calibre WiFi connectivity is intended for advanced users. It may get you in trouble. Don't use it unless you are really sure you know what you are doing".
I have browsed again the Koreader User Guide (23.01), and found no such warning.

Nope. That's quite stupid. Please don't put those words on my mouth.

It is what it is:

1. calibre is a complex piece of software intended to be used with devices running their stock program.

2. that's what you get when you connect your device to your computer using usb using the stock drivers (for kobo, in your case).

3. you'll need to workaround that following the 3 easy steps quoted above if you want to share the same set of documents using usb and via wifi.

But there's nothing that could cause you trouble that's not under a warning: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...eless.lua#L214

And that's exactly what happens if you try to mix a wifi/smart device app folder with one initializated by calibre following your device specs.

From the PoV of KOReader we assume calibre users have some understanding about the software they use, so things like "device templates", "device drivers" et al are quite mandatory to figure out an integration that works for you.
