Earlier this week we watched Silo, the first time for my sister and the second time for me. I want to start the second book in the series after my current book, so it was a nice refresher.
My sister loved it and was sad when we found out that the second season won't be released for at least another year. I'm now trying to find something to watch next for us. We might watch some movies this weekend, so we can binge on the latest season of True Detective next week. |

You guys all know that Death in Paradise is back on BritBox, right? It's only the first epi, they aren't releasing them all at once, but drip-feeding. I have to admit, while it was "okay," I felt that same sort of vague disappointment that I have felt with Fr. Brown these last few seasons. The murder isn't all that clever, the denouement is downright flat...hmph. Maybe they have the Writer's Strike blues...(just kidding). BUT, for those of you that have loved this OG of Chamber-of-Commerce-Cozy-Mystery shows, it's there! (Any of you tried this "Will Trent" show?) Hitch |

I know I'm missing Death in Paradise (and a few others right now) on BritBox, but I've shuffled up my streaming services for a bit. I dropped Netflix and Britbox for a while in favor of Peacock (premium) and Paramount+. Hopefully they'll all be waiting for me when I inevitably switch back.

Sunday I watched two movies that I recorded the night before on my PBS station. First, Indiscreet (Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, set in London) from 1958.
Then, Shane from 1953 (Alan Ladd, Jack Palance, Jean Arthur, Van Heflin). I hardly ever watch westerns, but it as good, albeit slow. I was born in 1951 and as child watched Bonanza and Gunsmoke. There were other westerns, but those two shows were all that I watched of westerns. Shane was cattlemen vs. settlers in Wyoming, 1889. I just looked this up and found this: https://hacklermark77.medium.com/ran...%20to%20resist. |

Started watching The Witcher a few days ago and now starting Season 03.
There are moments when I enjoy some scenes, but overall I really dislike it, main reason is that most of the time I don't understand what is going on. Never read the books, and never heard of The Witcher until the TV Show came out. I was completely confused in the first season, until I hopped online to figure out why I was being so daft, only to discover that the storytelling was not linear and it was jumping back and forward through time. How on Earth are you meant to know that? It's not as if the historical scenes were in a type of dream sequence or a different colour profile. Nope, just looks like the rest of the show with no indication it is a different time. Anybody else struggle watching The Witcher? |

I finally figured out, in the first season, about the time-jumps, mostly due to the kids then suddenly being grown up and all that, like that one king's kids or something. It infuriated me, as it was clearly meant and intended to be confusing. Hardly fair play and all that for new-to-it watchers who didn't read the books.
GRRRR. we stopped anyway. Like everything else, suddenly it was all the GURL characters, the males all nearly ceased to exist, gurl-power crap. Enough. WOEFULLY disappointed with Monsieur Spade. The ending, the denouement, was positively confusing, worthless and uninteresting. I mean, written like a 13-year-old did it. Not worth watching, at all, IMHO and who was that man claiming to be Sam Spade, anyway? What a drag. Hitch |

Watched another German show Unbroken which was pretty good.
Can't say much for the latest Shetland - major letdown after the stellar Henshall final season. Wish they'd have brought Julie Graham back... |

I wondered about Shetland post-Henshall. I assumed it would be a letdown, so now I don't have to experience it for myself.

I just lost a long post that I wrote. I've been getting "web page blocked" in red and then I have to click go to it anyway, because I know this site if OK, but it got stuck and wouldn't go back to my post and it's gone. I will leave out the details.
Over the weekend I watched Love Story (1970 Ali McGraw, Ryan O'Neal, Ray Milland), Summer in February (2013 Dan Stevens et al.) that were both on my PBS station Saturday night. Also watched 3 2024 episodes of Blue Bloods. I had not watched it before. Second time seeing Love Story. First time was at the movies when I was at university in Greensboro. Thought it was shallow and vapid, but I enjoyed it more this time for the nostalgia. Also my 2nd viewing of Summer in February. |

I tried to watch Death and other Details - but gave up midway - again a tortured way too slow plotline filled with entitled loathsome characters - I hoped the murderer got all of them

I was watching one of my favorite episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh GX, King of the Copycats, about an individual who is such a copycat that he mentally becomes the person he is copying...in this case Yugi, the star of the previous series Yu-Gi-Oh. Great pair of episodes.

Re-watching "One Punch Man". Why no season 3 yet?
