The whole footballing sudden-death playoff thing was fun, though. LOL. (yes, yes, before anyone wants to 'splain to me, yes, I know that sudden death is a hockey term, thanks.) Hitch |

I'm about halfway into an animated sci-fi miniseries called "Scavengers Reign".
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21056886/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 It's absolutely fantastic. The alien world is so strange, beautifully ugly in the way the flora and fauna have evolved and reproduce. An incredibly creative and refreshingly different bit of media that's definitely worth investing some time with. Last edited by neil_swann80; 02-12-2024 at 06:32 AM. |

I watched part of the Super Bowl and personally thought there were several things the CFL does better than the NFL. In the CFL, when kickoffs from the 35 yard line were routinely landing in the endzone (endzones are 20 yards deep), they move the kickoff back to the 30 yard line. Given the CFL field is 10 yards longer (center field is the 55 yard line), this is the equivalent of moving the NFL kickoff starting point to the 20 yard line. Perhaps you might see something other than a touchback on every bleeping kickoff because that is such an exciting play.
OTOH, I did like both teams getting a shot at scoring in overtime even if only in the playoffs so far. The CFL has that pretty much by default for OT since otherwise the first play in OT would be a punt. Punt it through the back of the end zone, collect the single point (rouge) and win the game. Fans are going yawn! |

I've been watching episodes of Astrid (S3), Funny Woman and All Creatures Great and Small (S4) the past two nights. Finished All Creatures tonight.
I don't watch football, but when I got home from swimming Sunday night about 9:45 I turned Super Bowl on at 10 and turned it off at 10:40. So boring. I wouldn't have minded seeing the half-time show, but I prefer marching bands to pop music at sports events. |

It gets worse. Nope, not kidding, it really truly does. I saw a scene/flashback, looked at the Hubsteer and said "now, wait, you're going to find out that..." and sure nuff, I was dead on, 40 minutes later. sigh. How is it that all these writers can't recognize their own awfulness? I'm not kidding. I mean. HOW? Oh and if any of those writers have ever been in a truly, mission-critical, life-or-death environment (like an astronaut) I'll eat my bunny slippers. To top it off, they made endless and immeasurable design errors for that climate...they had a doctor telling a "severe concussion' patient to lie down and go to sleep, and wait for it...wanted to give her morphine too. WHAT THE....??? No arctic doors or entries. VAST windows. It's just...sooooo stupid!!!! Hithc Hitch |

I think I mentioned some time back that I had completely lost my sense of humor during the pandemic - and it has not returned. So I avoid any comedy viewing selections offered up to me on streaming services.
Instead I have developed a taste for quirky programming - and yesterday begin viewing Resident Alien - and I'm hooked. I vaguely remember the announcements when it was originally released but had ignored it. It's weirdly funny - and the deadpan demeanor and delivery of Alan Tudyk is spot on. Star Trek meets X-Files and slams into Northern Exposure ... with a dash of Stephen King ... |

Star Trek S3E21: The Cloud Minders
Yeah, this one was... not so great. There was something about a class divide here, with one group of people (Troglytes) doing all the physical labour in the mines while another group (Stratosians) is living in cloud cities in luxury. And the Troglytes are unhappy and rebelling and then... I guess it turns out there's gas in the mines that make them stupid and violent, and the solution is to give them masks so that the gas doesn't affect them. yeah, I don't know. And then we randomly have Spock talking about Vulcan reproduction (which, in an earlier episode, was described as something so deeply personal that he only told Kirk after receiving a promise of complete confidentiality) with some woman he'd met maybe an hour earlier. ![]() From what I've read the original story by David Gerrold was much different and somehow it got butchered pretty badly to where Gerrold was not happy by how it came out. We watched Mrs. Wilson - we didn'nt realize the title wasn't just a coincidence.
Then latest season of Nordic Murders, the one set on Usedom Island, and now latest series of Profilage with yet another new and interesting character in the profiler role. I think both are Walter Presents on PBSM... |
