Import metadata json along with cbz book

With calibre I have my books that have a json file as a sidecar containing metadata to the relevant book. Both the json file and cbz book have the same name to be easily identified as a pair.

How do I make calibre import the books along with the metadata inside the json files?

assuming your metadata is in the comicbookinfo format you can store it as the comment in the cbz file and it will be picked up automatically.

It doesn't seem to work when importing into calibre, how do I do it right?
I have put the json inside the .cbz file and then imported it into calibre, yet it did not populate the fields, do I have to write a plugin for this?

below is the json file in the format you have said it needed to be in that I added to the cbz file that I have imported:

The one time I played with adding a comment to a .zip file, I used 7-Zip. Basically, open the .zip file with 7-Zip, either use ctrl-Z or Comment from the file menu, copy/paste the comment and close the file. That was a simple text file with instructions on using the command line options for the installer stored in the .zip file.

I'm not sure what the format for a CBZ/CBR comment is so you may have to do some editing to get the right format.

I have tried it in a zip format with the below in the comment zip as you have instructed then imported but no metadata has been imported into the metadata fields.

Your metadata needs to be in the comicbookinfo format
