Import name from filename and all metadata from book content

Hi,
I wish to import some books where the filaname is the name of the book bacause I am sure it is more correct than name contained in metadata. All the other metadata and the cover should be imported from inside the book(s) as usual.
Is there a way to obtain this ?

We get the option of ignoring some metadata when using the metadata download. Would it be possible to add the ability ignore some metadata when using the metadata button that gets the metadata from the file. I think this would do what the op wants. I didn't realise I wanted it till he asked. I usually get the Author, Book and series metadata fields from the file name but using the metadata button overwrites it sometimes which I use to fill my comments, publishers and isbn field.

In principle sure, in practice, it's not something I am motivated to implement myself -- fair bit of work for a feature that is not something I would use myself. The problem is that unlike metadata download adding metadata from files also supports custom columns, which means the setting would have to be per library. Or have a free form field name input which is much harder to use than a list of checkboxes.

You can do this.
Import books using the filename to populate the author, title and series.
Then select the books in Calibre and start Bulk Edit. In the edit books dialog you can use "change cover", "set from e-book files".
This doesn't solve blurb, but is bettern than nothing.

For the blurb, you can download it from the Internet.
Set the download options so you do not overwrite Author, Title and Series, select books, hit Ctrl+D and select "download only metadata"
