I'm on 5.16.2.1 jb right now, and I am also getting the rootfs ro error... and KUAL does not get installed.
The Kindle is empty, just reset, applied new fw, applied jb.

Does it make a difference that it appears as not registered?

What can I do?

You can try entering ;demo, and then pressing "yes".

Ok, now that I got out from "Managed Kindle" mode, getting back to install KUAL.

It fails with the rootfs ro error. I have also tried to use the patched mrpi installer contained in the extension2.zip file provided by Marek.
Additionally, each time I get a file like this txt (attached)...

i have jailbroken my kindle pw 5 (5.16.2.1.1) but i am not able to understand the instruction to install kual and ko reader. can someone please explain the steps with the required files, i dont wanna brick my kindle 😭😭. i am not sure if i have mrpi or not

In version 5.16.2.1.1 I was only able to install kual by copying both files (kual and hotfix NiLuje's) to the mrpackages folder and using ;log mrpi. More recent versions (5.16.3 / 5.16.3.1 / 5.16.4) make it impossible to install kual, at least I couldn't on my PW5.

I jailbroken PW4 5.16.2.1.1 and PW5 5.14.3.0.1.
Installation of KUAL failed with ;log mrpi.
Use "kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r19292" and "Update_KUALBooklet_d0eb25b_install.bin"
However, I was able to successfully install it with UYK.
Use ”Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_d0eb25b_install.bin”
PW5 5.14.3.0.1 had no problems after that.
But PW4 5.16.2.1.1 fails to remount with in mntroot ro.
I think to don't worry , because it will return to read only if reboot.
Is this idea wrong?
Should I take measures to prevent errors?

You can try to use kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r19293, not r19292.

What.. why?
You mean you put Kual booklet and Niluje's hotfix together in the mrpackages directory?
But why? As far as I understood, Niluje's hotfix isn't needed at all once you use Languagebreak... and at the moment when you install KUAL, the hotfix should have already been installed anyway...

Are you positive that you put Niluje's hotfix in mrpackages folder?

It's me again. I managed to jailbreak my Kindle. Or so I think because ;log and ;log mrpi actually show logs and attempt to install KUAL.
So, the thing is that KUAL won't install. I have found the log in F:\extensions\MRInstaller\log\mrinstaller.log and it seems to be failing in the install.sh file at the very beginning.

Any clue or hint on what could be going on? What does that "eval: line 1: 0,: not found" mean? Should I post this in another thread? Should I try to install something that's not KUAL? I am surprised that I seem to be the only one stumping on this :-(
