Searching for true/false

I don't know why I suddently forgot how to do a search for a column that has anything in it.

I used to do search then select the column name in the dropdown list and fill in "true" in the search parameter. Then a selection of books that have that column filled populates.

Now I am just getting the colums that have the word "true" in them rather than if there is anything in it. I went through all the match parameters, but it's not coming up. It's been a while since I've done this, but I don't remember it being so hard before.

What changed or what am I doing wrong.

I have a column with short text like a title, and I want to see which books have that field filled.

(i have no short text columns to test)

For what little it may be worth, if I do a search on:

Code:

#subtitle:true

the search returns any books with a subtitle. The column type is Text, column shown in Tag Browser.

However, if you use

Code:

#subtitle:=true

then it will find all subtitles containing the word "true".

We need to see what is in the OP's search bar.

Amusingly, searching for either 'true' or 'false' without a column prefix will get you pretty much every book currently available. (It may also be slow depending on the 'limit the searched metadata' settings.)

Since the OP mentioned typing true in the search box, I decided the =true case was not true.

I understood that the OP was using advanced search. Otherwise I don't know where a drop-down list of columns to search is being found.

Me too.

I don't have any columns of type: "Long text, like comments, not shown in the Tag browser" that are are interpreted as: "Short text, like a title". So, I couldn't easily test.

I have some of those. I use it for subtitles and original filename (populated by GetFileName). It's useful for when you don't want something to show in the tag browser and you don't want them to have a clickable search in details.
