That's just strange. I've been looking at houses on this website for years and it never asked me to make an account. I only made one a couple of weeks ago. I've been sending links to my parents, who haven't gotten accounts either and they can just look at things.

Right now I'm waiting for my evening snack to heat up. I've just finished cross stitching for the night. Just 342 more stitches and the cross stitch part is done! I started it late May last year. When I finish tomorrow I'll have worked on it for almost 260 hours. On Wednesday I can start the back stitching (line work). I've never done that before so I have no clue how long it will take. After that I'll wash it and hand it over to my sister, she can iron it and then have it professionally framed.

It's Mucha's The Blonde, I've ordered The Brunette from the same series, I should get it tomorrow. But it'll be a while before starting that project. I first want to do some kits and patterns I've had for while, which are, hopefully, quicker.

It's weird. Maybe it's because I'm in the US, but Issy is too. Hmph.

I'll keep trying, I really DO want to see the houses!!!

IDK, maybe it's a Chrome thing but seriously, NOTHING I do allows me to get past this effing page, attached. I've gone directly to Rumple's link; I've tried to get there other ways, if I try to back out of that forced registration, it dumps me out of the site.

Infuriating, really.

ETA: I finally got it to work. Google kept "signing me in" as that Gmail address. Because of that, Funda was "requiring" that I log in. As soon as I told Google where to go, all the issues and problems stopped and I'm viewing the images now.

sigh

When I finish tonight I'll take it off the frame and take a picture and upload it. It's this kit I'm doing. It took me a year to do the first and half of the second page. After that I took a break to do two smaller projects. The last two months I've been "rage stitching"; I just want to finish this darn project. Instead of doing 100-200 stitches per session I now do 300-400 stitches and I stitch almost every night, whether I feel like it or not.

My next project is this dragon fly. It has french knots (only 2), which will be a first for me, and some back stitching. I like how it has a bit of a shadow.

I currently have 4 kits waiting to do, 4 kits on their way to me and 6 patterns I need to both kit up and then stitch (a kit comes with the pattern, embroidery floss and usually a needle, a pattern is just that, either on paper or digital). So collecting kits and patterns is a totally separate hobby from doing the actual cross stitching.

And I finished the cross stitching. I already did a little bit of back stitching, not sure if I like it. The red lines is the thin fishing wire I use to grid my fabric, it makes stitching a lot easier.

Oh, fishing line is a clever idea! You weave it into the fabric, I imagine, and can then pull it out when you are done?

French knots: I set aside one project for 10 years or so, because my Fernch knots never came out right. I finally bought some very small black beads and sewed them on wherever a knot was supposed to be.

That sized project times a 16 stitch per inch fabric (or is it per something else, in metric countries?) means a LOT of work!! Wow!!

AGREED! I don't know anything about how this works, but omigosh, Rumple, that must have taken a LOT of time.

You have Easy Count Guideline, which is the official product for cross stitchers to grid with. But I found it to be too thick for my liking (you need to try not to stitch over it, then it gets hard to remove) and expensive (especially in Europe). So I ordered thin colored (one in blue and one in red) fishing line from AliExpress. It's cheap and there it's long. Mind you, gridding is not a fun activity; it need concentration, a lot counting and re-counting, swearing and it takes a lot longer than you think. But in the end it's worth it.

There are only 2 french knots in my next project, I'll do those at the end with a YouTube tutorial at the ready.

Most European cross stitch/embroidery stores list the Aida in crosses per inch, only a few in crosses per centimeter. 14 count in centimeters is 5.5 crosses, and really, who wants to deal with that!

I'm almost at 260 hours. And now I have to do the line work. I've got no idea how long that takes, it's my first time back stitching, but I'm aiming for a finish at the end of next week. My initial goal was to finish it before my vacation starts on September 25 and that I should easily make.

Tonight I'm going out to dinner, so a little break from stitching. My wrist and shoulder will like that. I've been pushing myself these last couple of weeks and I'm feeling it.

The Dutch Lalique Museum has a Mucha and Contemporaries exhibition. My sister wants to visit it during our vacation. I'm not if I'm ready to that by then, I still might be slightly traumatized by my project. I'm kidding (am I?), of course. But I would love to see Lalique's work, as someone growing up watching BBC's Cash in the Attic and Flog It.

260 hours? Good lord, you could have learnt two new languages in that time. Not as an expert translator, or course, but you would be fully conversant and probably able to read a lot too, and write some, at least coherently. Dang, I'm impressed.

I'd be bloody traumatized, too!!

:-)

Thank you.
My favourite project are two foxes (two separate pieces) in the geometric style. So the totally opposite of the Mucha project. I did those almost three years ago, but only got the right size hoops to frame them and the felt to finish the back this week.

I had hoped to wash and frame them this week. But it has been a crazy week and haven't had time. Hopefully next week will be a bit quieter and I'll have time to finally frame them. Once I do that I'll take a picture and post it.
