Dr. I've been picking up books by lesser known horror boom writers R. Karl Largent and William Schoell. I think half the fun for me has been in finding decent scans of their original covers.

I heard only of R. Karl Largent, but William Schoell (although I might remember that name by seeking out the original covers).

Unfortunately, I have yet to read anything from both those authors.

I've read Spawn of Hell/Things that go Bump in the Night by Schoell.

I just remember seeing R. Karl Largent's books on the shelves and haven't read any yet. Fun fact: He also wrote an Amityville cash-in under the pen name Robin Karl and that's also available.

I started picking their books up mostly because each has a fair amount without having a million titles and the ebooks are cheap, so I don't have to wait for sales.

Other authors I am slowly picking up: Matthew J. Costello (I'd especially recommend his Midsummer and Wurm), Stephen R. George (I really enjoyed his Nightscape), B.W. Battin (It's Loose), Stephen Gresham and Ronald Kelly (Undertaker's Moon).

These are all midlisters. Don't expect too many hidden gems (though I do really enjoy Costello and George).

Not this particular one. I've discovered some new ones from them but it's been mixed as with anything

Ronald Kelly is writing (and publishing) again. He has a memoir/writing book called "Southern Fried and Horrified" that came out last year.
