Add multiple libraries/catagories?????

I have a large collection of ebooks as well as comics. Is there a way to make tabs that go directly to certain categories of books. For example, I have a large Star Trek and Star Wars and Sci Fi Nebula Awards Book categories. These books don't have the same author, but are all in one category that I would like to quickly access. As to comics, comic book readers I have seen list each folder separately, ie Batman, Superman, Spiderman. Any way to have a tab for comics, then under that separate tabs for each comic book category? A tree view in other words. Any help here would be appreciated.

Tags, Series, even book format (eg CBZ) are ways to set up Saved Searches. Virtual Libraries or simply pick from the Tab Browser

ok, thanks for that info. Is there a way to automatically make a books go into a virtual library as you download them into Calibre? In other words, when I add my Star Wars folder with all its books into Calibre, can they automatically go into a Star Wars library? Or instead, can I have another library(not virtual) that I can setup for different formats(ie ebook library and a comic library).

A VL is a filtered VIEW
If you make the VIEWS definition {series}="Star Wars"
You can also just do that with a saved search

Automatic is NOT AutoMagic
How is import supposed to classify IF NOT BY EXISTING METADATA?

You can have as many separate physical libraries as you want.

Right click The Library Icon: Create/Switch: Creat an Empty at new location.

2 rules: LOCAL DRIVE ONLY. Does not overlap existing Library (folders)

aka: Do not put libraries on network drives, NASs, or cloud storages (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc). They tend to cause libraries to break, then long-time users tend to get cranky when constantly asked why the libraries broke.

For what it's worth, I use two physical libraries. The first is called Intake and is where I import books, clean up the metadata, do any needed editing, etc. Once the book is ready, it gets moved to my main library (called Main since I tend to be boring). In Main, I use several virtual libraries based on various criteria instead of having multiple physical libraries.

And yes, what @theducks and @ownedbycats said about local drives is very true. There have been all too many posts where the poster says something to the effect of "I've had my library in <pick the cloud storage/NAS of your choice> for years and now most/all of my books have disappeared."

Back your calibre libraries up to cloud/NAS/whatever. Just don't run calibre against a cloud stored library.

This. One addition: external USB/FireWire/eSATA/Thunderbolt drives count as 'local'.
