Calibre Website Ads - Just a Thought

The Calibre website wants me to turn off trackers so that it can be ad supported. I don’t do that because I don’t want trackers on. I would however be happy to click through several ads (even answer a question to prove I looked at them) for a site I want to support. At a couple unremembered sites this was done. I could go through more ads to provide more support (and was happy to do that at those sites to provide support). I would do this at Calibre to help support them, although I primarily use my iPhone and Calibre isn’t available for it. This is just a thought about an alternate way to get support from those who do not want to turn on trackers.

What trackers? The calibre website uses google analytics, thats it.

I have also sometimes gotten that pop up when clicking to update to the newest version of Calibre. I did not get it with the last update.

After turning off my ad blocker and Ghostry, I saw no adverts. I did see that Google Analytics is used.

Where did you see adverts from Adchoices?

Revenue is not from display, only clicks? Better to send him money direct.

It is not the above page that pops up for me. It is the page that Calibre sends you to when you click to get the newest update.

This will come from the ads displaying service, probably when it thinks you have an ad blocker installed.

I've tried it with Firefox with the ad blocker and Ghostry turned off. I've also tried it with Microsoft Edge (I keep it vanilla). And neither showed adverts.
