The Mini is a mark4 device. Use the firmware for the Kobo Go (not HD) which is also a mark4 device.

Happy to report that my Mini (newest firmware) not only still syncs, but the book store still works. So, I think, the Mini dodged another bullet. The cut-off must be determined by the firmware version, not by the Kobo model.

My Mini (previously yours &#128513 syncs just fine as well. I can even borrow books on Kobo Plus with it. It doesn’t have a tab in Discover for OverDrive, though I never noticed if it did or not before. It does, however, support OverDrive syncing.

Tested Overdrive syncing as well. So far nothing has changed, nothing has been lost (and Kobo Plus has been added (as you say), but I don't have it so can't personally test that).

EDIT: So my Kobo A1 bootlooped when updating. Likely culprit is that I didn't leave enough storage, it was almost full. I had to reset it holding the button, then connecting to computer. unfortunately it did a factory reset. I redid the manual update. I have an old backup, but newer bookmarks are lost. But it's ok, everything works
