It's good enough to have on while stitching. I only have 2 episodes left, though tonight I'm watching a podcast, but I'll finish S&B probably tomorrow.
I get that ("good enough to have on whilst stitching"), I do. I have shows like that, largely older bits from somewhere in time, the 80's, etc. or older (like my buddies Perry, Della and Paul). "Good enough" to put on when the insomnia is bad, "good enough" to put on while I'm reading something non-fiction for work. Good for periods when I want something playing, but don't want to be engrossed.

It's funny, pre-Mr. Wonderful, I didn't even have a TV, in my then-apartment. But he has tinnitus, and it's nearly impossible for him to live in silence. The noise in his head/ears/wherever is just horrible, so the TV or music or SOMETHING has to be playing all the time, when he's awake. I don't know if that habit is now mine. I believe it's not--if he were to leave, I'd turn that sucker right the hell off--but as his leaving is highly unlikely, I'm still suck with it playing all gd'ed day. Oh, well, that's marriage for you--it should just be called Compromise. :-)

My biggest problem is that nearly everything is "good enough to have on whilst stitching". Nothing at the moment really grabs for, except for the occasional movie. It's been a while since a tv series really grabbed me. Probably Lockwood & Co, which is of course cancelled after the first season.

I really enjoy Critical Role, but you don't have to watch that to be able to follow it well. I've also discovered some spooky YouTube channels, but even those I can follow well when stitching.

I'm currently in S. 11, episode 6 or so, of Midsommer Murders (rewatch # who-knows-how-many) and omg, sometimes, it's easy to forget just what a bloody idiot Joyce really is. Cully is a self-centered brat and Joyce, let's face it, is simply DUMB.

The official Facebook page of MSM regularly jokes how suspicious it is that so many murders are connected to Joyce.

Well, that's something that of course, you see in many, many shows, ranging from Sleepy Hollow to god-knows-what, but I was watching her last night, mid-season in S11 and she acts like a dimwit, inviting the boss that Tom loathes (the efficiency guy, right that wants them to fill out the time tracks, in 15-minute intervals?) over for dinner and the look on Tom's face is priceless.

I mean...she's dim and she regularly poisons the family with her total inability to cook. She has no job. You gotta wonder how TB manages to survive the women in his life. The Cully of the books is even far, far far more obnoxious, arrogant and beautiful.

I've been hate-watching DCI Banks on BritBox while waiting to discover something new. I'm not sure what bugs me more: the look of wtf!? that's permanently affixed to his face, or the weird adoration of two of his female subordinates who are clearly far better detectives than he is.

One of the few redeeming aspects of the show is that Jack Deam's character of DC Ken Blackstone helps wash the bad taste of his Inspector Mallory character from Father Brown out of my mouth. Only a little bit, but still...

Recently started watching "From" 2022 TV show. Mystery/Horror, a "Wayward Pines" vibe.
Fun so far.

Also watched "Evil Dead Rise". Succeeded as a good horror movie, failed at being an "Evil Dead" movie IMHO.

I'm with you by and large.

I loathed that blonde woman. Could NOT abide her. (And it's actually affected my ability to view her in other shows/parts, too lol.) Started fast-forwarding through her presence, non-stop.

Nor did I understand why he was so dumbstruck by the pair of them.
For one thing, make up your damned mind, and for another, put on your big-boy pants and stop indulging with your subordinates. Or subordinate, whatever.

I've not watched the show, but I read and enjoyed the DCI Banks series for some time, until I got tired of the perfection that was Banks, his acuity, his taste, you name it. In fairness, I get tired of all series eventually; there are very few I see to the end.

...recalls to me that I watched one Father Brown in March and haven't thought of it since. Just as well; Hoopla pulled seasons seven and eight so it's not as if I ran out of episodes while I was still interested.

Thanks for the info on the books. I wondered if they were any better. I'm pretty much the same as you when it comes to series these days (anything over 3 or 4 books anyway), but I'm not above getting some enjoyment out of the first few books if I get a chance.

Me 3. Curious if anyone has read the books and can compare?

I'm on Shetland book 4 now and this Jimmy Perez seems quite different - a lot more complicated than the TV persona.

More Britbox- Hetty Wainthropp with a somewhat toned-down Patricia Routledge from her Hyacinth Boo-Kay role. Worth watching IMO.

Hope Street, a recent Northern Ireland daytime police drama, soapy of course but not bad.

S24-25 of Silent Witness- never one of my favorite shows but liking it more as time goes on. Interestingly, the trademark naked corpses are no more.

Last night I caught up with Yellowjackets.

I must say I'm not really feeling this second season. The 1980s storyline I like but the one set in the present day annoys me. It takes them most of the season to get together finally, but meanwhile the things that happened during season 1 aren't resolved; the murder(s), Tai's sleepwalking, etc. With just one more episode to go I'm sure that they won't be resolved and that those storylines haven't progressed one bit from the end of the first season.

Just started watching "Mrs. Davis". It's completely bonkers in the best way.

If it's any comfort, it doesn't change much (in the bonkers aspect) through the end.

When I first read about it, critics claimed it was entirely new, something not seen before, yadda, but honestly, it reminded me rather strongly of that show "Preacher." IMHO, similar in many many ways. Not in plot, don't get me wrong, but in that sort of "let's see how zany we can be!" way.

Offered FWIW.
