My real name is not particularly secret, just very common.

Some 25 years ago, I adopted xinu in various forms for when I need something somewhat more unique. At the time, I had a friend who had had XINU as his license plate, and had a whole story about a coworker of his not getting it until seeing it in the rear view mirror.

Makes sense. BTW, I was browsing the FanFicFare FAQs and unless you deliberately select the Restructure Epub to Sigil Norm tool in Sigil, you can edit FanFicFare generated anthologies without causing issues.

Good point. It looks like that limitation was removed in Sigil 1.0.0. FAQ removed.

You're using single quotes.

Except that setting an Integer type column to empty string doesn't clear it.

In the Calibre GUI, the same is true: if you erase the contents of an int column, it automagically resets back to the previous value when you try to save it. You have to set it to a space to clear it.

But setting an int column to " " (space) from the API throws an error from inside the Calibre code:

ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ' '

I'm not entirely sure what, if anything, should be done about that.

Proposed FAQ entry item:

How do I insert an empty value into a column using custom_column_settings?

Normally, to replace the contents of a column with an empty value, you would use " "=>#yourcolumn.

However, this results in an error and failure when done with an integer column. (Example: When disabling the "Always overwrite an existing value" option in the Count Pages plugin, you will want to empty out the value so FFF integration is able to update it.) In this case, use "None"=>#yourintcolumn.

Alternately, update the comment to mention the 'None' for ints

I honestly don't think these qualify as 'Common'. And it's already in the comments:

Enhancement Request:

Currently in source (and available next Calibre release) adding links is an option for other normalized tables instead just authors. Also see this thread.

I think it would be useful to have it put the collected seriesUrl there, with option 'Set Calibre Series URL' option in the column settings alongside the Author URL setting.

If you decide that it is a good idea, I'm running from source and would be willing to test..

I'm planning on releasing today and I'm not dropping new code for a 'future' Calibre feature in it.

That's fair. But if you decide to add it ahead of the next Calibre release (not sure when that is) I'll test it.

Odd effect. Unsure if FFF or Calibre.

I have a #readinglist series column, managed by Reading List plugin. I have FFF set to add books to a reading list but also tested with a book already on the list.

The seriesUrl is also added to this. However, it doesn't appear in the Manage dialog.

I will ask in the other thread if there's a way to remove the phantom link.



EDIT: It seems this is a Calibre issue.

Other than uncovering the unexpected Calibre behaviour, it seems to works as I'd expect
