Hey, that's MY neck of the woods! The free eCard (no trip necessary) for locals expires after a year if you don't stop into one of their physical locations to upgrade it to the full library card (still free). Their locations are close enough that I have no real excuse for not going... but I haven't done it yet.

I don't use them often. Mainly an additional source of audio books tor when I find myself between audible credits. But I have watched the occasional series using the Hoopla app on Roku/FireTV.

Watching Barney Miller, on Amazon Prime. A very funny police show that ran from 1975 to 1982, if I remember correctly. If you're looking for a place to start, you might try The Escape Artist, season 1, episode 11, guest starring Roscoe Lee Browne. Browne grew up in my area, was a flexible actor, and had a remarkable voice.

I remember when BM started - I think it was a mid-season replacement, just a throwaway project where they blatently threw in every stereotype - Black, Hispanic, Polish, Asian, Jew - just to see if anything would stick. But the cast and writing and unique Greenwich Village setting full of wacky characters turned out to be brilliant.

Watched the first episode of the Death in Paradise spinoff. I can't remember its title offhand. "Death in NOT paradise??" Anyway... not awful by any means. I just don't really get why there needs to be this tenuous connection to DIP in the first place. But I suppose a ready-made audience would be a huge boon. *shrug*

I too watched 'Beyond Paradise' (the DIP spin off series) and was pleasantly surprised. I always had Kris Marshall down as a 'one note' actor who was the same in everything, but his personality seemed to carry it off. Had reservations about Sally Breton as his partner though, she always seems very stilted to me,almost wooden, and yet her legions of fans (mainly from 'Not Going Out') seem to think her wonderful. Each to their own. Could have done without the cosy 'family' scenes too, even though I love Barbara Flynn!

I watched the Netflix documentary series Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal over the past two nights. Alex Murdaugh is on trial now.

I also watched the German movie All Quiet on the Western Front over two nights. (Netflix)

I'll be watching Beyond Paradise later today.

The other series I've been watching is Extraordinary Attorney Woo. It's interesting to see a series written for a South Korean audience.
