As far as I know, they expect it to clear up relatively imminently. If it doesn't...honestly, I'm kinda at the end of my rope with pain here.

Yes, mine is in my foot, and the lower leg and had started to creep up past the knee, into the thigh, but I never got all the wee spots you have, Deb! Just a solid, angry-looking red.

And OMG, was yours painful to stand on? Like, when you stood up, did you think you were going to die? Or scream?

Actually, no, or I’d have gotten help earlier. It started swelling and the leg skin felt stretched — hence the glistening in one pic, where I tried to oil the skin for softness.

My late BF had a lot of cellulitis too, and didn’t complain of pain. Wonder if yours is crossing fibers with your shingles…

If you are still in hospital, can they try bigger pain meds, like morphine?

Our estate agent had made an appointment for someone to come measure all the rooms for yesterday afternoon. To avoid the fuss and not be in the way I decided to go to Ikea. Which wasn't the best choice it turned out. Normally Ikea is quiet on Monday, I had forgotten that this week is a school vacation and that apparently Ikea is a nice day out with the kids.

It turned out I could have stayed home; the measuring guy didn't show up and didn't contact us about not being able to come. And our estate agent is on vacation this week so my father couldn't contact him.

I just hope the guy doesn't show up one of these days; I've got plans for most afternoons this week and although it's nothing that can't be delayed I rather won't since I've had a couple of busy weeks with not much time to do things for myself.

Hi: that's odd. Maybe you two were smarter and got help sooner. I kept thinking that the swelling was due to the prednisone (which, to be fair, a lot of it was--my right leg was swelling like a giant tuber, too!!!), so...I didn't get help UNTIL it really started to bloody hurt. Duh.

I can't even recall how long the leg/foot has been red now, but it still hurts to stand and walk on. Standing in one place for any length of time--I mean, ANY--is not on. Walking--I stand up, wait for the pain to pass (as the blood apparently rushes in some damned direction) and then proceed.

URGH on the pain meds. I won't even tell you what's going on with those but thankfully, I have SOME so that's helping.

I've been dealing with a couple minor, but persistent, issues with different facets of my health for the last year or more and I'm just a bit exhausted to still be dealing with them.

Not that they are without silver linings. One is mechanical and has encouraged me to do a lot more stretching. Although the issue isn't gone it has gotten better, and my improved flexibility is nice and contributes to a higher quality of life overall so that's a habit I hope I can continue even if the original issue does get wholly resolved. The other issue I don't care to discuss in much detail except to say that as a byproduct of attempting to treat it I have drastically improved the quality of my nutrition. My diet is taking on more of those Blue Zone diet characteristics, eating more plants and whole grains (though could stand to replace even more of the meat I eat now with more pulses and the occasional fish). (I found How to Eat, by Bittman and Katz, a very approachable and sensible read on the subject.) Again, even if my issue isn't cured, I'm seeing knock-on effects on my health from the changes I've been making which feels good.

Hitch, I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling disappointed that your issues are dragging on, glad that you have some degree of relief from painkillers, and hopeful that you see a rapid return to good health.

I am sorry that you have been dealing with your issues for so long. It's bloody exhausting, isn't it? It's the duration that just eats you alive, at least, it is for me and I've only been dealing with this, what, two months now, compared to your YEAR? Ye Gods. You have my sincere sympathies.

Fedex delivered a package early and sent a picture of the package next to a door that is not mine. I think they inverted the building and unit number (x-y instead of y-x). The buildings are locked. (Not even sure how they got into the other building.) Bloody hell.

EDIT: I checked the other apartments in this building. Thankfully the package was in front of unit x (as opposed to being delivered to unit x in building y). Still, doesn't bode well for the ability of FedEx deliverypeople to read.

DHL was supposed to deliver a package yesterday. Only nine minutes after I got an email telling me the driver was on their way I got the confirmation the package had been delivered. Of course it wasn't, it usually takes them 1.5 to 2 hours. Usually when this happens the package is delivered later that day or the next day. Of course it hasn't been delivered.

So I just emailed the company I ordered from. If I'm pissed off enough I might call DHL tomorrow. It's been five months since I last had to channel Karen when calling DHL, I know it couldn't last.
