Hi again:

Found and installed that plug in. Opened it, checked only "Encode HTML in UTF-8" clicked OK; selected all three books in my current Calibre library; clicked again on the new plugin; it said all three were "modified".

Went to my Calibre book location and noted by the date / time group that the epubs had been "modifed" or at least saved again with the current time. Dragged one to the Send to Kindle app; download went OK as usual, but when I opened the book in the Kindle Reader app; the apostrophes and quotes were still trashed.

Hi again:

I have browsed the extensive number of "conversion settings" in Calibre. There are very many.

Is there one to change the font output after conversion so that all my apostrophes and quote marks are not trashed when I upload a book to the Kindle app on my iPad.

Earlier in this forum I was told that UTF - 8 was needed but the helper plug-in app I loaded and set did not work.

Can someone tell me how to apply the 'polish feature' in calibre? I want to see if it can fix whatever issue is preventing STK from accepting the ePub I've been trying to send.

Easy-peasy. Open calibre, open Preferences (click on the Preferences icon or hit ctrl-P). Under the Interface option, click on Toolbars & menus. On the dropdown, select the Main toolbar. In the left column, locate Polish books (the whisk broom icon). Click on it and then click on the right pointing arrow between the columns. Close out of preferences.

Please note that Polish books does not have the Encode HTML in UTF-8 option that the Modify ePub plugin does so I prefer to use Modify ePub.

I doubt there's anything wrong with the ePub in question but just want to try something else.

[update - And once again, STK has rejected it]

I have successfully sent a epub omnibus (about 10mb) that was created with merge epub with the send to kindle web. Try that and see if merge epub plugin repackes it compatible with send to kindle Or you possibly have reached an artificial file size limit or word count limit. The 200mb may not be the max size for epub.

Do epubcheck or kindlegen have any complaints?

Neither necessarily maps directly to whatever STK doesn't like, but they might provide clues.

That was the first thing I checked after first failure (Kindle Previewer 3 and epubcheck). No issues.

Since they've been mucking around with STK so much in last few months, and it is critical for some Scribe features, one can hope they are looking at these failures and will make some improvements.

And now an issue with Send To Kindle app for MacOS: If I do not check Archive document... and check a device, it brings up dialog to Please choose a Kindle. This is for sending a PDF, haven't tried ePub.

Looking at this as someone who doesn't normally use ebooks/PDFs to Amazon, doesn't that make sense? If you are going to send it to something, you need to specify what something you want to send it to?

Is there an app for Windows? I see a webpage, and the wording is different then what you posted.
