I thought poisoning for I sprayed insecticide near her that is supposed to be "pet friendly" But the other parrot is fine. It was so traumatizing to see all that blood. I did not bother to find out what happened. dead is dead.

For years I've been using Plex to stream media I have on my laptop to the chromecast connected to my TV.

It always worked, but over the last couple of years they've added their own, free (?) streaming with movies I'm absolutely not interest in. Even worse is that the Plex app on the newer Chromecast with Google TV features their streaming service very prominently, you can't turn it off and you have to click through several "layers" to get to my own media server. I'm not the only one annoyed with this.

So it's time for a change. This afternoon I should have some time to install Kodi (which Plex is based on) on both my laptop and Chromecast and see if that works better.

I'll be sad if the plex Roku app goes the same way. Currently, the streaming offerings are easy enough to to de-emphasize and I otherwise like the app a lot.

I tried Kodi, but it doesn't work the way I want it to. I wasn't able to get it to work the way I like. I want to use my laptop as server, like I do now with Plex. The app on my Chromecast with Google TV connects to the server on my laptop. I could still use it the old fashioned way and install the app on my tablet and use the Cast button, but I don't want to. I suspect I should be able to get it to work like I want it, but I will have to either set up the network connection manually (and I'm not savvy enough to figure that out) or maybe with the help of plug ins, but since I'm new to Kodi I don't know where to start with that.

I might mess with it more later, but for now I'm back to using Plex. There are other apps out there, so I will have to do some research and see if anything will work for me.

Until that time I'll have to click a dozen times to get to my own media on the Plex app.

The building managers put some sort of weird scent thingies in the apartment hallways. Unfortunately the smell is so strong it makes me instantly nauseous. I suspect I'll also be getting a migraine later.

I'll try asking them to remove it. If not, perhaps vomiting in the hallway will make a point.

Perhaps a bit of projectile vomiting onto one of the managers would do it?

Seriously, I hope you get some resolution from them. As someone who is extremely sensitive to scents, I totally get it.

Are these scent thingies visible? Can you grab 'em and burn 'em?

Speaking of annoying scents, I saw a TV commercial the other day for fabric softener with scent that lasts up to 30 days because apparently people want their laundry to smell "clean".

I think my laundry smells clean when it has no odor. I don't want it to smell like flowers or something

Then there's that scent booster stuff you can add to your laundry. Why???? I don't want my laundry to smell like anything either.

I managed to walk into a bookshelf when I went to the toilet during the night. It hurt, but no torn nail or cut and I don't think it's broken. It's bruised and stiff and a small section above the nail is swollen and sore.

I have to figure out which shoes I can wear tomorrow. I need something with a wide toe box (I've got long toes, so the front of my foot is wide). My Crocs were fine for work this morning, but for a full Saturday I need something that offers more support. It'll either be my Dr Martens or my sneakers. I think the latter has the widest toe box and the fabric is flexible, but the sole isn't as supportive as the Dr. Martens shoes. I might start out on the DMs and bring my sneakers or Crocs with so I can swap if needed.

I can't remember the last time I walked into something with such spectacular result.

I had hoped to go out on a walk on Sunday to take pictures of the autumn coloured trees. That looks like it isn't going to happen.

I'd go to the doctor.

That's exactly how my toe looked when I broke it. Unfortunately, by the time I realized it'd already started healing wrong and now it's permanently crooked. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it would be to re-break it and even then there's no guarantee that would help.

The next morning it was already going away (receding?), except for a couple of spots, which probably took the brunt of the bump. Those spots are sore to the touch and the toe itself is stiff. It was a busy day in the store yesterday, by closing time my whole foot and leg were sore, because I walked differently than normal as not to hurt my toe.

But I'm postponing my autumn walk until Tuesday (today is chore day and tomorrow some packages *might* be delivered).
