This is not completely true. NickelMenu does survive firmware updates and it does not need reinstalling.

I have a few issues that seem unrelated to the others people are having on the Libra 2.

These are the issues I'm having in KOreader - 1.Battery is stuck at 0% and shows itself as 'charging' regardless of being plugged in (reads as 95% and discharging in Nickel) 2.The physical page turn buttons are not working (they work in Nickel). 3.Warmth is unadjustable. Brightness adjustment works correctly. (Warmth remains set to whatever is set in Nickel). These all persisted after a factory reset and after updating to latest firmware (4.33.19611). My only oddity might be that I'm reusing a kobo account I used on a different kobo that had koreader installed. Last edited by intriac; 06-15-2022 at 12:50 AM. |

			1. Plato immediately crashes when it tries to open. 2. I turned on verbose debug logging for KOReader. Here are were the only odd messages from my crash.log for it. Quote:

				install.sh command not found

			Hi,

I unpacked install.sh in Downloads. I then went to Downloads where the command ls -la shows that it exists in that directory. On typing install.sh I got the message "command not found". I am running Xubuntu. |

You'd need to type something like bash install.sh or ./install.sh. The latter will only work if the file is executable.

./ being in the current folder. It's a touch different from how the DOS prompt works. My guess would be it's to prevent confusion between "command" the global command from PATH and "command" the executable file in the current folder, but I'm not sure how or where I'd look up the rationale. |

@NiLuJe Following your instructions for Linux, I clicked on the download link and extracted sh.install in Downloads. In directory downloads I typed install.sh and got a "command not found" response. How is this possible? I am using Xubuntu.

I have just updated to version 2022.07 and two things still bother me (if this is the wrong thread, my apologies)

	1. when I remove a book from history, the sdr-folder remains and I have to delete it manually with my PC (I don't want to delete the book from the ebook reader) 2. in a pdf, when a book has pages numbered with Roman numerals in the beginning and then Arabic, I'd like to go to precisely the page I want and not having to do a calculation (I've posted this before) |

.AFAIR, both of these have existing issues on GitHub (very sure about the first because it was pinged recently; and the second does ring a bell). |

FW is 4.33 - and it killed nickelMenu. Now I cannot install KoReader. Tried one-click, and install script for MacOS too. Kobo just goes to KOBO-setup (all books are still on it) demanding Kobo desktop, which demand an update. Will such further prevent install? UPDATE: All is back. Nothing seemed to happen as a result of the KOBO desktop update. And KoReader and nickelmenu installed beautifully. Even remembering my place in the book I was reading. But 4 hours of worries. OTOH, I've used NickelMenu since geek1011 released it and haven't had it fail to survive a firmware update. If the ereader was already updated to 4.33.19759, it seems a bit strange that the Kobo Desktop app would want to download and install the same firmware version unless the ereader was signed out or was factory reset. IIRC, there *is* a patch to block updates, but it comes with a big shiny warning that says "untested, may not work" ;o).

Regardless of that particular tidbit, basically what @DNSB said .There was *one* major version jump a few months ago that broke bits of NM, but that's it. KFMon, on the other hand, *never* survives update (by design). This is all laid out in the documentation. |

https://www.dropbox.com/s/cfe60kikhd...11457.mp4?dl=0 But it was un-checked (I made sure), when I turned on the Kobo wifi in order to use the beta-web browser to see if I could copy from mine&partner's refugee poetry project site onto KoReader's note app. And instantly KOBO OS began updating - from 4.20's (to 4.33). I cut the house's internet connection, but I was still too late. And following that it was baby clean (with books, however) and refused to accept a koReader update, but instead started over with choice of language, while demanding Kobo desktop on the Mac be opened. Which then wanted an update - so, very narrow path I did not know where would lead: koReader install prevention or what? But after 2 koReader install attempts all was back. And now koReader starts almost instantly! The joy! -- BTW: The text to QR-code function in koReader is AMAZING! And DID you know that QR-codes can store up to 4296 characters, including punctuation marks and special characters (or 7089 digits)!? That means there is room for full poems in that single symbol!! The opportunities! Last edited by menneske; 08-19-2022 at 06:42 AM. Reason: clarification |
