If they are still showing an AZW extension after adding them to calibre, then they still have DRM. I suggest asking over at noDRM's GitHub: https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools

Are you sure you still have K4PC 1.17 installed and it did not update? Amazon has been getting sneaky with forcing silent updates.

May I ask why you updated to W11 and are running a version of calibre from March, 2019?
DeDRM needs to be at least 10.0.3.

The latest DeDRM is 10.0.3 and it runs with Calibre 6. I have never had Mobi or KF8 Kindle eBook fail be hvae the DRM removed. I've never tried to remove the DRM from KFX. I stay away from KFX.

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I'll check my DeDrm and will install the latest calibre. I presume I still need to use K4PC 1.170? Cheers.

1.17 is good to use as long as it still works.

Installed the latest version of DeDRM plug-in (DeDRM_tools_10.0.3) (August 2022)

Followed all the steps but I try to covert the book I get an error "Cannot convert the CR! This book is locked by DRM"

Do i need to configure the plug-in? I'm copying the books across from Kindle on Windows. Don't quite get the customise DeDRM options. I selected Kindle for Mac/PC ebooks option and just creates a key. Do i need to do something else with the Kindle app?

Confused about that step.

Detailed help with DRM removal isn't allowed at MobileRead. You can ask for detailed help at noDRM's github repository where you got the 10.0.3 version.

I think it would be OK to mention that DRM only gets removed be the DeDRM plugin when books are imported, not converted.

You could have a version of Kindle that's too new to work with DeDRM or not setup to not download KFX. And if not, you may need to read about the workaround(s) to prevent downloading KFX and what versions will still work. That's why you really have to read this thread so you know what you may need to do with the Kindle app to get it to be compatible with DeDRM.

Thank you all for these tips! I have a really old e-ink Kindle, so I was able to use that method from page 1 of this thread, along with tools from github. That was best for me. Appreciate the help!

Is your Kindle able to handle KF8 eBooks or is it too old? If you Kindle can handle KF8 eBooks, then the best solution is to use a web browser to download the eBooks direct from Amazon as long as you have your Kindle registered with Amazon.

Absolutely do not read this whole thread. That will give you a bunch of outdated and conflicting info. The first post is updated as things change.
