One note about NickelMenu. When it's installed, there is no configuration. You have to create that for NickelMenu to work.

Shortcut to KOReader OPDS Catalog or specific entry in OPDS Catalog?

Any possibility I could add a button/shortcut to the main NickelMenu that brings me straight into the KOReader OPDS Catalog screen or even better, to a specific entry within the KOReader OPDS Catalog screen? Not sure if this is feasible or not. I'm new here

Yup, got that part, thank you! I've kept it simple and added a toggle for Dark Mode and a button for Sleep mode. Works for me :-)

That's a question to be asked in the KOReader forum.

I know it's not what you asked, but you can achieve it by setting a gesture

Question A question about nm

Noob here ! I have no idea if i'm posting this in the right place but I have a question. I setup KOreader and kfmon and nickel menu with the installation script provided in this thread and I only see one option in the "NickelMenu" menu on the home screen which is KOreader (see image). I saw on the offical website photos and on documentation for nm and I saw that there was way more than a single option. How do i get those options? Any help is appreciated.

Software version : 4.33.19759
My OS (laptop) : MacOS 11.5.2 (dunno if it helps)

See the documentation for NickelMenu. You have to configure it to show what you want. Configuration is via entries in a config file.

Here is the main thread for NickelMenu https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=329525

Please help.

So I tried in TextEdit and put in different file extensions (.rtf, .config, . (yes literally no extension)) and it gives me this error (see image). Can some one help please ? I attach also the lines I wrote according to this in an image. The last setting in the "code" (dark_mode) is because in the documentation, it doesn't have the setting for nickel_setting for what I need to do.

You saved it formatted as an RTF, which obviously doesn't work .

It needs to be plaintext.

I know I'm getting old and that it's been awhile since I've done any 'geeking', but I'll be damned if I can figure out #5 of the installation instructions: "...create a new file (of any type) named KOBOeReader/.adds/nm/config..."
How do you name a file containing forward slashes?

The forward slashes specify a path where the file should be created/put.

How do you name a file containing forward slashes?
In the root of the partition exposed over the USB connection, create a directory called .adds (and yes, the directory name starts with a period), inside that directory create a directory called nm and in the nm directory create your config file. The forward slashes are a Unix/Linux convention for path separators, under Windows style OS, you would write KOBOeReader\.adds\nm\config for example.

I knew it would be something obvious that I'd just forgotten. Oddly, the .adds, nm directories were already there when I went to create them.

Following a post by NiLuJe, koReader and Plato were easily installed. I can see it will take awhile to figure out...was amazed by how much changed the Libra is.

thank you DNSB and John F.

I made some icons for NickelMenu.

Comes in four flavors and five resolutions.
  • 24w_trilogy
  • 30w_phoenix
  • 42w_dragon
  • 50w_storm
  • 56w_daylight
Installation:
  1. Rename an icon to "nickel.png" and place it into .adds folder.
  2. Put this into your NickelMenu config file:
    Code:
    experimental:menu_main_15505_label:Nickel
    experimental:menu_main_15505_icon:/mnt/onboard/.adds/nickel.png
The first line is optional, just for your awareness that the label can be changed.
  3. Reboot your device.

The ones that are optimized are 42w_dragon because I have Libra 2, with the rest YMMV.
Theoretically, active state (pressed) should be supported, but I could not get it to work so I didn't make the icons for it.
"Plus" was created as a legibility option for the smallest sizes but it's the one I like most.
